Your Ideal Setlist (using only one song per album)

Well, why not.

(assuming that we follow standard Maiden setlist rules and everything chosen has been played live before).

-version:

The pace might be a bit off, due to song selection being on the heavy side, but I tried to make the running order to look like it might flow well enough. I was being rather adventurous too with some of the picks.

1. If Eternity Should Fail
2. Public Enema Number One
3. The Prisoner
4. Infinite Dreams
5. The Edge of Darkness/Sign of the Cross/Fortunes of War
6. Paschendale
7. Afraid to Shoot Strangers
8. Killers
9. Brighter Than a Thousand Suns
10. Stranger in a Strange Land
11. Coming Home
12. Still Life
13. Phantom of the Opera
--
14. Out of the Silent Planet
15. The Clansman
16. Powerslave

And The Really Ideal Setlist of my (more or less) Absolute Favourite Picks:

1. If Eternity Should Fail
The title track or Empire of The Clouds would've been an option too, but but even Ideal Dream Setlist needs The Opener (Iron Maiden ™). And IESF is an amazing song anyway.
2. Brighter Than a Thousand Suns
The pacing is already getting out there, but yeah, I suppose this would be my pick from AMOLAD, even though I'm one of the FTGGOG lovers too.
3. Stranger in a Strange Land
ATG is great and all, but this might be just a tad bit better. Maybe.
4. Rime of The Ancient Mariner
5. Infinite Dreams
6. The Clansman
I love Como Estais Amigos and some other stuff on this album too, but this one's just SO amazing.
7. Children of the Damned
This one was though choice. 22 Acacia Avenue would've been good as well, but I might love COTD just a bit more and since I missed TBOS gigs... Yeah.
8. Public Enema Number One/No Prayer for the Dying
9. Sign of The Cross
Fortunes of War was a tempting pick for this spot too.
10. Killers/Murders in the Rue Morgue/
The Prodigal Son
Hard to choose...
11. Starblind
12. Revelations
Yeas, there is WED, Icarus, Still Life and To Tame a Land, but I just love this one and when it comes to "Ideal Set", I'd probably want to hear Revelations as part of it. The mentioned alternatives are just fine too, you can't go wrong with these POM gems.
13. The Thin Line Between Love and Hate
--------
14. Paschendale (with "Anthem for Doomed Youth")
15. Afraid to Shoot Strangers
Strong thematical connection with the previous song and I could definitely see this one working very well as an encore in pretty much any kind of set.
16. Phantom of the Opera
I considered Strange World and Remember Tomorrow too, but POTO as a show closer... After pretty much a perfect run-through of the whole Maiden history... Just too fitting. Too perfect. So Phantom of the Opera it is.

Yep. They'll never touch Blaze era again unfortunately. Didn't mention those though because it's under the premise of them playing a song from every album and those would be most likely I think. Or at least one or the other.

Unless they went the Judas Priest route when they said they'd play something from every album and then still completely ignored the Ripper albums. Something I hope Maiden would never do if they were to do a tour like this.
Fortunately, you were wrong;)

1- If Eternity Should Fail
2- Killers
3- Fates Warning
4- Phantom of the Opera
5- Hallowed be thy Name
6- Flight of Icarus
7- Powerslave
8- Brave New World
9- Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
10- Starblind
11- Dance of Death
12- Sign of the Cross
13- The Clansman
14- The Longest Day
15- Fear of the Dark
16- Alexander the Great

This is a realistic ultimate, I believe.

Right... these aren't my favourite songs from their respective albums as my favourites didn't really flow very well as a concert set, plus I don't think some of them would work live at all. I think this works a lot better. I tried to go somewhat realistic, so no super deep cuts:

Aces High
El Dorado
Rainmaker
The Edge of Darkness
Public Enema Number One
The Clansman
Be Quick Or Be Dead
Phantom of the Opera
Killers
Out of the Shadows
The Book of Souls
Flight of Icarus
Hallowed Be Thy Name

Caught Somewhere In Time
The Evil That Men Do
Blood Brothers

Thought Blood Brothers would be quite an emotional way to end the show, hopefully not too much of a downer. I didn't mean to lump the 90s tracks together, but I think they work quite well that way. Gets them out of the way for the Play Classics! crowd too ;)

Two from Seventh Son, none from Piece of Mind.

It's hard to be unrealistic, because it's impossible to avoid some songs like TNOTB, FOTD, Trooper, IM. If they ever do something like Farewell Tour, I think that 80 percent of the set would be 80's material, with FOTD and maybe two songs from post 2000's period. Also, if there is a 16 song setlist, there wouldn't be place for more than two epics. So...

1. Caught Somewhere in Time
2. Purgatory (with "Scream for me" Bruce's intro to the song, to light up the masses)
3. 2 Minutes to Midnight
4. The Clansman
5. The Alchemist
6. Revelations
7. Judgment of Heaven
8. Remember Tommorow
9 For The Greater Good of God
10. Brave New World
11. Judas Be My Guide
12. No More Lies
13. The Clairvoyant

Encore:
If Eternity Should Fail
Bring your daughter...(I don't like NPFTD at all, so this one is here just because it's the most realistic choice)
Hallowed Be Thy Name
