Wait a minute, Dire Straits are actually winning against Iced Earth here? :blink:
 
I am also quite surprised. If not mistaken, most North Americans voted for the European band.
That said, IE was always more popular in Europe.
 
Wow, a bit of a surprise.
I like both more or less equally, voted for Straits because they were the underdog.
 
To be honest, I was also in for a good match and doubt about who is the real 'winner'.

To me, Iced Earth might have more very strong songs, but also more weaker ones.

Looking at some of my favourite songs by both bands:
Sultans of Swing versus Dante's Inferno... The first very catchy and melodic, great solos and very rhythmic drums and pulsating bass guitar. The latter more epic with more depth, lots of riff guitar madness and (dark) atmosphere.

Both awesome in their own right.
 
The number one radio hit from Dire Straits is your favourite song of theirs? :eek:
 
Sultans of Swing is definitely their best song. Brothers in Arms is a close second, though.

Not even close for me. I can't stand Iced Earth.
