Why would someone *not* like Maiden?

It is a stupid reason because just because something/someone is old doesn't mean it/they suck.

take operas, classical music, Epic Medieval poems... granted just because they are old it doesn't mean they are automatically great, but you get the picture.
 
Ooops!  I made a little mistake.  I forgot the title of the thread.  I thought this was the "Why Maiden only tours in big cities/some countries" thread.  :blink:
 
Although it seems the answers given don´t make any sense, IMO, it´s a matter of tastes.
I think this experience would be the similar if we asked the same question about other great heavy-metal bands, such as Black Sabbath or Judas Priest. I know people who don´t like them....so?
I reckon trying to guess such questions isn´t important...Iron Maiden are and will be one of my favourite bands no matter what other people think about them.
 
That's it - depends on musical tastes. I think some metal-heads would say that Iron Maiden is too soft and one of my friends - fan of black/death - does not like heavy metal singing style. Those who do not listen to a metal music would say that metal is too heavy/noisy/violent (?). My wife says Iron Maiden/Bruce Dickinson/BLAZE/other-metal-band all sound alike :-) Well, I had the same opinion on metal some years before, but "thanks" to my brother I was forced to listen to metal music and finally, I have found the good in it. So probably those against IM just need to listen better :-)
 
One of the reasons is lack of sensitivity for something else besides all out aggression driven bands that are mainly good for headbanging purposes. Some of these "true metal people" often don't seem to be interested in songs that make you think and go deep through the lyrics.

Maiden is not for everyone.
 
alot of my mates arent really metal heads and there so stereotypical of Maiden "oh when they sing they roar dont they?"
erm do they of all there songs that ive heard i havent heard a single roar from our Brucie :)
 
The most common reason I get is that "all their songs sound the same."  They are old seems to come back over and over again.  Of course the fact that most people around here are EMO or wiggers doesn't help.  They just hate it because its metal.

Nah, I think it boils down to different musical tastes.

And yes, the reason 'they're too old' is a stupid reason. Classical music is old and its AWESOME (most of it).  :D
 
For most guys here who are into newer rock and/or like emo or mushy alternative stuff and have never tried oldies, they may think it's lame or do some number of the beast complaint again.
Most girls I know think it's too loud or noisy.
Though I respect musical taste, I think that you should really listen to a song before you judge. No harm in trying?  :bigsmile:
 
Honestly, I can't imagine why someone wouldn't like Maiden but that's just me.  I don't get much crap for wearing their shirts everywhere I go and people usually think it's cool.  Then I ask myself if they just say that because of Eddie or because they dig Maiden? 
 
funny you should say that. I bought the last t-shirt (black with the white eddie face with the cross rifles), wore it to work and one of my managers, an "old" rocker was like, "OH DUDE THAT IS BAAAD! Did you just buy that?" "Uhh, yeah, this weekend." "Oooh, yeah, that's tight." hehe Go Maiden
 
That's cool!!  It's good to see people still into the bands that matter!  That's an opinion by the way!  I love the shirts and the artwork is awesome but I also enjoy the Maiden catalog better!
 
True, true. I got it because the other maiden shirt I had has faded badly do to the poor quality (got it for 9 bucks in some market in Mexico haha).
