What's the worst Maiden song with just a Steve Harris alone writing credit?

Steve Harris in his prime was an unbelievably talented songwriter and that can never be denied. He still can write some good numbers now too.

That being said of course he has written his fair share of stinkers.

I'll add a poll but obviously I won't add every song with stuff like Trooper, Aces and Rime to it because that's pointless because they're clearly works of genius and don't belong here. Also haven't added more appreciated later Harris songs like Sign of the Cross, Blood Brothers, Hell on Earth and even Blood on the world's hands. I also happen to really like most of the songs in the poll, I'm just adding the less acclaimed Harris songs..

( I'll add an 'other' option for any you think should be here )

Too difficult to just pick one

The Angel and the Gambler
The Fugitive
The Assassin
Another Life
Childhood's End
Don't Look to the Eyes of a Stranger
Drifter

All of them are pretty bad, some others too.

Steve rarely misses with his solo credits. But I voted for Invaders - and yes, for the chorus.

You can argue about Assassin's chorus (even Fortunes Of War) and Angel And The Gambler's repetition, but the songs have other redeeming ideas (plus we have the short version of the latter as a single). Oh, and I love Don't Look To The Eyes Of A Stranger. Quest For Fire isn't that bad (always enjoyed it like Assassin), while Another Life is unfinished, but it's fun.

The rest are all good. Justice for Lost In A Lost World!

Don't look to the eyes of a stranger is a disaster . For me one of the very worst Maiden songs.

I can't stop laughing when Blaze blurts out the chorus out of nowhere then has the audacity to repeat that line 800 times.

Lost in a lost world annoys me. I love the freaky intro and it felt different and new for Maiden. The verses are mediocre but could have made perfect sense as the build up to a great chorus.

But no. It's horrible and uninspired. I frigging hate that chorus. So that's number two

The wave of votes for The Angel and The Gambler is bonkers, there are far worse songs on this list than one that simply goes on a bit too long. I would choose to listen to Angel over a fair few of these songs, like Drifters, Invaders, Quest for Fire, Another Life or DLTEOAS.

It's the audacity to make Angel 10 minutes long when it should have been 3 or 4 tops that gets it the vote for me.

The music video edit of 4 minutes is actually okay.

I changed my vote to stranger because I just don't know what Steve was thinking there

DLTTEOAS not only has one of the more unique and interesting instrumental breaks in a Maiden song, it also feautures two brilliant solos. Y'all are crazy if you genuinely think that's the worst solo Harris song.

It's just that don't look to middle section that goes on forever. I don't mind the rest

Call me crazy but I see DLTTEOAS as the Blaze version of SSOASS. Both songs have a quiet part that builds up to a climax.

dont think there's anything wrong with the guitar stuff at all, think both Dave and Jan shine on that album. But for song structure and lyrics it's often pretty bad. This one just can't be redeemed for me as it passes into comedy levels of awful with the clumsiness and repetition.

All hindsight though, loved it at the time and still have good nostalgia vibes from the whole record.
