what happened to the official forum?

A few years ago it was decided that the traffic of the forum is too large to keep the forum open, so they closed it and only fan club members can access it. There's also the "online club" option which is 10 british pounds a year, and it basically gives you admission to the forum.

In my opinion, t could have been kept open to all visitors, but with a quota for non-members. The forum at thefuselage.com (official Lost fansite) has a system that prevents unregistered people to access the forums when the traffic is at peak levels (usually the 2-3 days after the current episode has aired).

Yes, but then they reopened the 'free to all forum' over a year ago (it's found by hovering the mouse over the 'home' button on the front page). I also used it just 2 weeks ago.

Maybe I am being cynical, but I think that it's closed at present as a way of getting more people to join the FC or online club whilst there is a lot of Maiden news on the album and tour plans. I don't believe that it is closed to get 'heat off the server', as when you look at the stats when the forum is open, there are not that many free users online at any one time (usually just double figures).

but the day the  album was announced there was a lot of traffic that might be why. and maybe they are making a new forum.
