What do you reckon the last thing we need from Maiden next year is...

Howdy folks! Long time since I've been a nOOb!!  :D

Thought I'd try & make my first post a decent one!! ;)

Anyhoo, with next year being such a busy year for Maiden what with the tour AND the DVD releases, I just thought I'd pose the question........what's the last thing you would think the band should do next year (commercial wise)?

I am being a bit vague on purpose. I do have some information from a very...VERY reliable source, but I have been sworn to secrecy.....trouble is, I'm not always great at keeping secrets! They sometimes just slip out!!!  :innocent:

Well, I've posed the question, lets see if anyone else knows the info that I have been led to believe!

For the record....personally, I do not think this 'news' is that great!

cheers!

Hmm. Something about the tone of that first post makes me think yet another greatest-hits-type thing is in the works.

We don't need another Edward The Great - i.e. another literal "greatest hits" disc.

We don't need another "best of" like Best Of The Beast. At least not yet. Let them do their next (and supposedly last) studio album, and then that might be appropriate. BotB did a good job covering the first 10 albums, so another best-of for the last 5 albums would work. But not yet.

For the same reason as just mention, another big box set would also not be good at this time. Wait until the band retires before releasing more archival material.

Of course, seeing Maiden's pattern over the last few years, another waste would be to release an 80s single again (exception: charity single is OK). How many times can they release a single of RTTH?

Don't tempt Smallwood.

Do we really need another live album/dvd?

For the new material, yes. For these history tours, yes. For the performances of the Trooper, Run to the Hills, Hallowed be Thy Name etc.......not really.

Anyway, Id be interested in them working with the makers of the video game "Rock Band" in order to get some master tracks on that game and maybe even their entire discography as downloadable content. That would be very nice.

Other than that, their next studio album.

That's the LAST thing we need? Sure their last couple of albums have felt uninspired imo, but new material is usually something to look forward to.

Personally i'd like a live album/dvd from the last tour where the band played A Matter Of Life And Death in its entirity, however we'll probably get a DVD from Download 2007 where they only played a few of the new album songs. Will probably end up buying the bloody thing anyways

Hopefully no other greatest hits, box sets or archive releases appear anytime soon, they are becoming a bit too frequent from the band. Roll on the new studio album after the History tour instead.

A qualified "yes" - if and only if they get a real video editor. Someone's got to keep Steve Harris away from the editing machine. It would be nice to watch one of the band members for more than 0.7 seconds before changing to another camera angle.

Ack, I misunderstood the thread title. Yes, I do want another studio album, lol.

I'm just going to walk away while I still can now.....

the LAST thing we need is another compilation or rerelease (not counting VHS to DVD ones) of ANY sort!!!! I'd be ok with anything else

Couldn't possibly comment on that suggestion!!! :innocent:

Well,  I definitely don't feel the need for another compilation album (totally pointless and money grabbing).  Also,  if they have to release a live album can't it be from the 2006 tour when they played the entire AMOLAD album???  Another version of Trooper and all that is just as useless as a best-of album.  Box sets are also not needed.  Hell,  I don't even like the idea they're releasing LAD separately.  They should have done a history dvd like the first one,  which included the first four albums era.  It should have been the "golden" era this time!

On a side note,  although nothing comercial (directly at least),  I really do not want to see them play anything from the first four albums in 2008.  I can live without Trooper,  RTTH,  and Hallowed.

I really wish I could tell you all that I have heard. If I did I'd be betraying a trust.

All I will say is that the info I have been told is somewhat SKETCHY...although some may find it a bit of a Golden chance to relive some former moments in time.............. :uhm:

It'd be nice if they didn't play anything from Number of the Beast or Hallowed Be Thy Name.  But I honestly expect The Trooper to be played...it's scarcely missed a tour in the last couple decades, so...
