What are the top 5 worst Maiden songs?

5. The Apparition
4. The Clansman (album version)
3. The Apparition
2. Don't Look To The Eyes Of A Stranger
1. The Angel And The Gambler (album version)

I read some recent posts about best albums, best reunion tracks etc. I'd really like to know what are in your opinions the worst Maiden songs. Let's exclude the Blaze era, because I'm sure many of you will choose songs from that era.
It's a really difficult choice to make. There are some Maiden songs I find meh or uninspired, but it's difficult for me to pick their worst songs, as I don't think they have many truly bad songs. I will only pick from the album tracks.
My picks
1. The Assassin (or ass-ass-in) : It's the first that came to mind. I can't even listen to the chorus without laughing.
2. Total Eclipse : I don't know if it counts. They included it in the remastered version of Number. So, it counts in my books. I never understood , why some people prefer it to Gangland honestly. I'm not a big fan of Gangland, but I never liked Total Eclpise at all.
3. Another Life : It's not awful, but it seems unfinished. There aren't many truly bad Maiden tracks. So, I had to include it.
4. The Fugitive, Chains of Misery, The Apparition : I can't even seperate them. The most easily forgettable triplet of songs in their whole discography.
5. The Man of Sorrows : There are some pretty forgettable songs in the last 3 albums. I was considering some other tracks also, like the Darkest Hour, Tears of a Clown, Starblind, Death of the Celts. Also, I considered some DoD songs for this spot. Honestly I don't think any of them is that bad. They're just a bit boring.
Bonus: Hooks in You (probably the worst of them all)
(+ half the Blaze era songs)

This made @karljant and me mad but probably for veeery different reasons :D
I'm not mad with @SetHerInConcrete 's picks (obviously everyone is entitled to his opinion): only used the emoji since there's not one for "disagree". Indeed, I think DLTTEOAS is quite poor but even taking that into account it's not among my lowest of lows. And CEA is, IMO, decent. Then, as far as I'm concerned, Futureal and The Clansman are both quality Maiden. The only one I agree with is TAATG... and even so, if it didn't feature those pesky keyboards and was shortened to the video clip version's length, it would give its way to another tune. But since we're analyzing the album's version... screw that song! :p

@Vaenyr one more point I think you're misunderstanding: I don't hate Virtual XI. My only gripe with it is:

a) a focus on repetition on certain sections I can't wrap my head around (TAATG, DLTTEOAS, WTWC)
b) besides The Clansman, Futureal and The Educated Fool everything sounds decent at best (CEA and LST) and the other ones, besides the aforementioned repetitions, IMO are filler like songs featuring a couple of cool sections.

WITH THAT SAID I SWEAR: I'd rather listen to DLTTEOAS and WTWC on loop for six hours than listening to Fear IS The Key, Wasting Love JUST ONCE (as well as similar stuff, especially from FOTD).

1. Wrathchild,
Pick any 4 from the Fillers album for the rest (except the title track).
Actually, most of the songs in NPFTD and VXI are almost equally bad for me.

No worries, my comment wasn't meant as a dig against you or anything. I just found it funny that we both reacted with that emoji.

I really like the renditions of Blaze's solo bands, with added harmony guitars (Futureal), heavier drums and guitars (Edge Of Darkness) or edited length and missing cheesy synths (TAATG). Such a stark difference to the almost lifeless studio versions.

Yeah, I know. :ok:

Agreed. And Blaze himself sounds so much better. I mean, down tuning sure did help, but besides that it's blatant how much of a better singer he is when compared with the late 90's. Even 1 tone down it would I'd seriously question the sanity of anyone who'd tell me two decades ago: "here's a version of Wasted Years by Blaze. You'll love it". Nowadays it's a reality.

Way better IMO.
This live version sounds like a pure rock song, with the clean and heavier riff instead of keys (although they fit for the album). I dig it.
The repetitive section is replaced with a jam, come to think of it, the song could have had more solos/drumming part if it wasn't for it, as the song allows for something loose, but the original calm idea is very nice (even better in Eyes Of Stranger; clearly written for live performances by Steve, the single version is short after all, why he changed it), it's just that the repetition is too much. 4-5 minutes with more solos to like ''compensate'' the last repeat of the chorus with the licks would be the best.

Adding harmonies, heavier/punchy guitars (and edited length) always adds to the feel. But I wouldn't call Futureal or Edge Of Darkness lifeless in the studio, even with their productions.
