Ah yes, Trump has always refused to do a White House Correspondence Dinner. But this time, he for no apparent reason does one. It just so happens to show up a guy with a gun and now Trump and his twitter warriors are calling for the Ballroom to be built.

Nothing to see here.

Trump realized it all sounds suspicious with the Correspondence Dinner. His latest claim is that he was going to roast the journalists and then leave. The shooter was supposedly targeting other members of his cabinet (as faking Trump attempts was getting old).

Trump is such a troll.

Maybe the "shooter" had dyed blue hair?

I must say it puzzles me that after 250 years the US still has a system where the elected representatives can decide the electoral districts in a way that benefits them. Gerrymandering has been a thing for a long time, but currently it looks like we are seeing a "race to the bottom" where both parties are actively looking to use their possibilities to maximize the number of representatives. Maybe it was bound to happen at some point.

To be fair, the Dems have been trying for years to get rid of gerrymandering, efforts which the GOP obviously never agreed with. Now the Dems chose to play by the same rules and did in Virginia what the GOP has been doing all over the country for ages. Not really a "both sides" situation.

So after the China visit, Trump may be abandoning Taiwan. The USA as we used to know it is gone. Now it feels like dictators versus a wannabe dictator. And a U.S. stance like this significantly increases the possibility of putin testing Europe—or even escalating against the EU.

Also, if anyone still wonders why the world feels like it’s going down the drain—did you see those photos of Trump and Xi sitting in chairs, and all the discussion about how Xi’s chair was supposedly designed to make him appear bigger than Trump? And these kinds of ‘I’m the boss here’ power games are still being played by some of the most powerful men in the world.

Similar chair games were allegedly played by putin with lukashenko. That alone tells you a lot about the kind of world we live in. It’s all rainbows and games as long as a normal person is at the wheel—but when power falls into the hands of an autocrat, or someone with a deeply compromised moral compass, things can go downhill fast.

We still live in a concrete jungle. Nothing has really changed. And many of the lessons of World War II seem to be fading from memory.

If Europe continues to act like managers rather than leaders, and keeps avoiding difficult but necessary decisions, hard times may be ahead.
