USA Politics

Trump is robbing the US of an additional 10 billion dollars. He is transfering it to his "board of peace", which he personally controls. But the libs are upset so MAGA loves it. What about that waste, fraud and abuse?

I do think it'll be a governor that'll be the Dem nominee in 2028 - but it won't be Newsom.
There's that candidate for TX senate, whose interview with Cobert was kept from airing by the FCC. That move alone drew more attention to him. His young, well spoken, southern.... could give AOC a run for her money or better yet, they could be a ticket

What's funny is after listening to Talarico talk a few times I seriously had the thought "Yeah, this guy's going to be President one day." 2028 campaign*'s not going to be that year though. Christian progressivism's not a bad angle for Democrats to explore.

Hmm, let’s see whether Gavin Newsom gets a surge of favorable support after this. It’ll be interesting to see whether this positioning broadens his appeal-or alienates parts of his base.

from Yahoo news:
"Newsome during an interview with CNN on Monday called on Democrats to be “more culturally normal.”

“From a tactical perspective, from the prism of purely politics, there’s no doubt that the Democratic Party needs to be, dare I say, more culturally normal,” Newsom said.

Newsom continued: “I believe that – less prone to spending a disproportionate amount of time on pronouns, identity, politics, more focused on tabletop issues, things that really matter, the stacking of stress in terms of electricity bills and childcare costs and healthcare and obviously housing costs and how easily we get trapped in that, how I’ve fallen prey to that.”

“I’ve Had It” podcast host Jennifer Welch said that Newsom’s comments amounted to “political suicide.”

Said Welch: “What you’re saying, Gov. Newsom, is breathtakingly dangerous.”

She continued: “And you’re ceding ground to the narratives that Republicans try to define free people that mind their own business that stand up for everything. You’re allowing their bulls–t narratives to define Americans, and it is utterly disgraceful.”

Welch also slammed Newsom for appearing to take advice from “corporate Democrats” on trying to move to the political center.

Said Welch: “He is adamantly against a billionaire tax, which I just think, my god, that’s a layup right now. Tax the billionaires. It is not even remotely a liberal thing. It is a moderate position from both parties. But here’s Gavin Newsom as he continues his death march to the center.”

This is Newsom 18 years ago specifically not being "culturally normal", as he describes it, championing same-sex marriage. The man is so blatantly an opportunist lol

Also, friendly reminder that he seems to be the only high-profile Democrat who talks about culture war issues. Him and the GOP. The rest of the Dems are either talking about immigration or they're taking a page out of Mamdani's book and focus on the economy, which is obviously the winning strategy at the moment.

@Perun

Assessment for Trump one year later: He had a one in 100 years previous experience in the presidency and experience on "the blob", he had an extremely strong mandate, he had a meaningful movement that supported him and he still managed to fuck everything up and all that to serve the same swamp who he was supposed to fight.

I have no words to express how disgusted I am.

I am really surprised you expected anything different from him!

He adheres to zero principles except for Trump First. And some prominent MAGA voices are starting to realize that MAGA is a lie. All the lies ad hypocrisy shouldn't be a surprise to you, but I am glad you acknowledge what a disaster he is and has been. Try and remember this going forward, no5 and don't allow yourself to be gaslighted into believing that Trump primarily works towards a bigger goal, rather than to personally wield unchecked power.

No, but rather a massive psychological effort of subversion. Peter Thiel literally, referenced that in his book, that to change the world (i.e. move it towards fascist Oligarchy), you need to convince people that other people believe your narrative - pack mentality and group-think.

One way to do that is the massive propaganda operations with fake accounts , both bot commentators and fake influencer accounts, or a 24/7 influx of Fox News which has shaped the political perceptions of tens of millions of americans.

or, quite likely, a combination. I see your point though.
