USA Politics

Unlike many others who lack class, Trump can't even be bothered to pretend he has got any. He regularly stoops to levels that are low even for random people posting on the internet.

The sad thing is, he has been like that since befre he entered the political stage. The difference from 2015 to now is mainly that there doesn't seem to be a strategy behind his vile behavior anymore, either because his cognitive decline has made him unable to maintain a strategy, his position ensures he doesn't need it, or a combination of both.

At least he ended with “may [they] rest in peace.”

Keep being silent, Trumpers. We hear you. Keep endorsing this kind of disgusting bullshit.

Oh, and all you liberals, don't you DARE say anything bad about Charlie Kirk! We don't speak ill of the dead, we're fucking Christians, you scum!
Do not lump all of us conservatives and “Trumpers” into the same bowl. Yes, Reiner suffered from chronic TDS, but this was not the time for Trump to mention it. Some of his rants are funny; this is not one of them.

Obviously I set aside petty political differences in a situation like this. Reiner was a funny guy and a good director, and he’ll be missed. This is a tragedy. How his own son could’ve done this is beyond me. Sick.

Just like with Charlie Kirk, anyone claiming that they’re happy Reiner is dead because of his political beliefs is not someone I want to associate with.

There's a big difference. Reiner didn't wish anyone dead. He did not preach hatred and no one can claim the world is a better place without him in it. For Kirk though.... well, the world is better without him in it.

Interestingly enough, Reiner's comments on Charlie Kirk...

"I felt absolute horror. I unfortunately saw the video of it and it's beyond belief what happened to him. That should never happen to anybody. I don't care what your political beliefs are. That's not acceptable. That's not a solution."

I've seen some folks (not on here) trying to spin this as okay because Reiner cheered on Kirk's assassination. Couldn't be any further from the truth.

Some people have empathy and basic human compassion.

Some people are vile, putrid steaming piles of shit. Like Trump.

I agree with all of this. I also see prices continuing to rise and the economic situation not improving much since Trump became president and wonder if he’s focusing on the right things when he’s spending his time tweeting stuff like this..

And this is where you lost me. Accusing Reiner who, according to all accounts was a throughly decent person, of being 'deranged' because he opposed Trump is pathetic and despite your mealy mouthed protest against being described as a "Trumper", this puts you in exactly the same boat as him.

TDS is nothing more than a MAGA invented term to belittle anyone who opposes their Dear Leader and his hateful ideology.

There are people who are unable to discuss Donald Trump with any semblance of objectivity, and just spin off into rants against him whenever his name is mentioned. These are fundamentally different from the people who make legitimate points against him, which is extremely easy to do, because he’s awful.

Saying that people in the first group have “Trump Derangement Syndrome” isn’t helpful, but I know exactly what behavior they’re describing. Whether Rob Reiner embodied this or not, I don’t know.

Exactly. Acting as if it is a real thing just dumbs down the discussion.

When an elected leader acts the way Trump does and has done for years, reacting with anger isn't unnatural and definitely not an indication of a syndrome of any kind.

I don't think he meant what most people would have meant by that, though: it ends a rant that begins by describing the guy as "tortured and struggling" - in that context it suggests that Trump hopes, in a pitying kind of way, that the poor guy has some peace in death because he obviously didn't have much in life. It's all rather condescending, really.

Always with the TDS. You guys sure can come up with a lot of creative ways to deflect criticism. No shit Trump is on people's minds. He's the president.

I don’t know if it’s true, but if it is, then maybe there’s still some hope.
The hope's going to be from the administration crumbling from within. Thus far the turnover's been minimal in the second Trump administration in comparison to the first, but blurbs of internal frustration have been leaking out - particularly at the two in charge at the FBI. This has now spilled out today into public view with Trump's current Chief of Staff, Susie Wiles, was interviewed by Vanity Fair and publicly said various things including saying Trump himself has an "alcoholic's personality", JD Vance as a conspiracy theorist who only falls in line with whatever's politically advantageous, and threw AG Pam Bondi under the bus for screwing up the Epstein Files - which she said Trump's clearly in.

Wiles was labeled as the architect of Trump's campaign and has allegedly held a vice grip on who has access to him. Given that, the funniest part of all of this is various cabinet members simultaneously made similar public statements supporting her, even Trump did as much in the fallout of the interview to the New York Post today. Insider reports on the other hand say that there's folks feeling blindsided by the statement.
