Flash has a point. I think generally people on here like the "gateway" prog rock bands, like Rush and Pink Floyd, but the less (for lack of a better word) "mainstream" groups like King Crimson are less appreciated. This isn't the only survivor game where this happens. Prog metal gets more appreciation for sure, there seems to be a lot more love for bands like Dream Theater, Opeth, or Symphony X. Even people on here who don't seem to like prog like some of these bands. And I suppose this isn't just a prog thing. Understandably on an Iron Maiden forum, there's more appreciation for metal than other rock styles.

Not to say that this is a bad thing, I get that prog isn't for everyone, just like any other style of music.

I agree with Flash and Mosh, although perhaps in a different way.

Call it prog or not, call it complex or not, I've noticed that adventurous, long songs with many (unexpected) changes are not that popular out here. With some accessible bands, I find that odd (e.g. Iced Earth, Helloween) because this is a Maiden forum (these bands were influenced by Maiden; besides stuff from other bands, they took trademark Maiden ingredients and sauced these with their own sound and made an own identity) and long songs as I described are Maiden trademarks. For some reason people tolerate it from this band but hardly from others. Opeth, Dream Theater, Symphony X, we can name them, but I don't think that there are more than a handful of people who are into these bands. Rush and Floyd are probably -besides Maiden- the only bands with long songs that have appreciation of some sort.

However, I do not think that this King Crimson song or perhaps even the band King Crimson sounds mainstream. Also not when you look at prog rock only. Perhaps this song sounds mainstream for some King Crimson fans (I am not one of them; I really like some more accessible songs on the debut but for the rest I think that lots of their music sound a bit over the top and/or too repetitive), but in that case In the Court of the Crimson King and Epitaph sound like number one hits in the pop charts.

Right, I was describing Rush and Floyd as sounding more mainstream. And it's true that a lot of people get into progressive music through these bands. They're both great at mixing progressive styles into more accessible songs. And to Foro's point, I'd say Iron Maiden is good at that too. They definitely helped sparked my interest in progressive Metal in the way that Floyd or Rush sparked my interest in progressive rock, even though they aren't necessarily a progressive metal band. And Opeth, Symphony X and Dream Theater all have clear Maiden influences.

Deficit: Thunderously epic opening. I quite liked this, although there's nothing stunningly original going on.
Teen Town: Jazzy. I was a little disappointed at this track not really going anywhere. A little insubstantial.
Vote goes with Russian Circles (#53).
Larks' Tongues: This, to me, had that (in parts) extended jam sound/feel, which is fine; but this just wasn't very interesting.
Sirius: Lovely electronic sound with those synths; but with guitars! Very nice & atmospheric. Even if an intro, I liked this a lot.
Vote goes with Alan Parsons Project (#56).
