That's an oxymoron.
I think you mean relatively close. That would imply closer to Chicago than any other major city.

The honest answer is, I don't know [img src=\"style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/tongue.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":P\" border=\"0\" alt=\"tongue.gif\" /]

There are some rumored tour dates but they are not confirmed or anything.

No, Maiden said that after the Ozzfest fiasco, they'll never visit the US again. They said they're going to do extensive tours of Canada and Mexico and probably visit Cuba, the Bahamas and Jamaica to piss the Americans off even further.

lol if that really did happen it probably wouldn't surprise me! The whole ozzfest thing was completely un-called for. Even if Maiden or Bruce or however it was, made sharon mad, that was still no reason to do something as childish and unprofessional as she did.

They could always tour just on the other side of the border, i.e. following the border routes around the outside of the U.S. (or they could play the Bering straights [img src=\"style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/wink.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\";)\" border=\"0\" alt=\"wink.gif\" /] )

I like the topic title...
Are Maiden coming to US? Well well, I'd say if you want to see them, YOU'd better go to THEM ::

more importantly....ARE THEY FINALLY GOING TO TOUR AUSTRALIA!!!?????

I'm afraid not. Jan has developed a kangaroo phobia and H is allergic to eucalyptus. They don't want to take any risks. [img src=\"style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/sad.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":(\" border=\"0\" alt=\"sad.gif\" /]

I think you'll find that eucalyptus is allergic to H [img src=\"style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/sleep.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"-_-\" border=\"0\" alt=\"sleep.gif\" /]

Indeed. Last time they were there, the first chord H played caused the desertification of 2/3 of the continent. They're not really welcome there anymore... [img src=\"style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/sleep.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"-_-\" border=\"0\" alt=\"sleep.gif\" /]

Clearly, there is no realistic way that Maiden could go to you. The combined gravitational pull of both 'Arry and H is enough to attract all fans to wherever Maiden happen to be, which is usually the local arena [img src=\"style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/biggrin.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":D\" border=\"0\" alt=\"biggrin.gif\" /]

Back on topic [img src=\"style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/wink.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\";)\" border=\"0\" alt=\"wink.gif\" /] , asking questions like 'Will Maiden play here????' at this stage of the game is useless. Nobody knows, but it's safe to assume they will play some dates in each of the major continents. But for now, the only dates we can be sure about are the European ones. Rumoured dates are worse than useless-any date that doesn't come from the band itself or from the venue/ticket provider is obviously made up, and I highly doubt that these 'rumoured' dates come from anything approaching a reliable source.

Speaking of dates, I got my Dublin ticket yesterday! Feels like gold to the touch [img src=\"style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/happy.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"^_^\" border=\"0\" alt=\"happy.gif\" /]
245 days to go... [img src=\"style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/biggrin.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":D\" border=\"0\" alt=\"biggrin.gif\" /]

Oh my gosh, that is NOT TRUE. You have seriously misinterpreted an old quote I remember reading during the Early Years tour last year. In an interview, the band (probably 'Arry speaking for all of them, but it might have been Bruce since he seemsed so bitter this past summer) questioned if they even wanted to come back to America after the Give Me Ed 'Till I'm Dead tour. Well, they obviously did, and despite Bruce's....antics, and comments Steve gave a statement mid or late tour saying they DO enjoy playing in the US, that Bruce didn't speak for everyone, and that they would be back. Besides, Bruce, even though he was hating on America, never said "We are not playing American again." They'll be back around january or February. And yes, they will do Chicago. It's a huge midwest city, and they played it for the Brave New World, Give Me Ed 'Till I'm Dead, and Early Days tour. I'll be there.

......Actually Maiden have announced that the forthcoming US tour will no longer feature major cities such as Chicago. Maiden have 'grown old' of playing the same locations in the US. Even though those big cities usually bring alot more fans and cash, Maiden have decided they want to venture to parts of the US that they've never played before. The next US tour is expected to see Maiden playing in small clubs and bars that hold no more than 1,000 people. This will give Maiden the chance to be 'up close and personal' with their fans. So no more big arena shows for the boys in the US but I'm sure you'll be able to catch them at your local club next tour. The dates should be announced soon so hold your horses. I know for a fact that they will be visiting the local coffee shop here in North Carolina.

Where did you hear that? I refuse to believe that. DIO plays 1,000 person venues, not Maiden. I also can not believe that they will not play Chicago, or one of its suburbs. When and where did Maiden "announce that the forthcoming US tour will no longer feature major cities" ? I check boards and official as well as unofficial website everyday and have never heard or seen of this. You must know someone on the "inside" to know exactly what venue they will play before the dates are even announced. Maiden in a coffee shop? Please. That'll be the day I burn every one of my Maiden records.
