Top 5 Iron Maiden Album Covers?

1. Powerslave
Just love the Pharaoh rendition of Eddie and the Egyptian theme.
2. Somewhere in Time
The regular cover looks awesome but the full picture looks even cooler.
3. The Final Frontier
I really like the alien/monster version of Eddie depicted here, although many don't.
4. Fear of the Dark
Same deal. Good visual of the tone of the album as well.
5. Brave New World
Love the Eddie in the clouds and the futuristic city.

1. Powerslave - Not only ancient Egypt gave them a theme for the title track, but also arguably their best cover and stage set ever.
2. Live After Death - So Eddie dies and comes back to life (life after death) in a gatefold sleeve accompanying the lavish package of a fantastic live album.
3. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son - Surreal, perfectly suited to a concept album.
4. The Number of the Beast - Amazing idea. Who is pulling the strings? Eddie or the Devil? Eddie! No, the devil! Wait for it, Eddie! No, the devil!
5. A Matter of Life and Death - Dark and brooding cover, just like the material focused mostly on war.

For the most part, we have been really lucky to have great artwork with Maiden, even without Derek Riggs involved (Fear of the Dark, The Wicker Man, and The Book of Souls come to mind as excellent examples of this).

  1. The Number of the Beast
  2. Live After Death
  3. Piece of Mind
  4. Brave New World
  5. Somewhere in Time

  1. Live After Death
  2. “The Clairvoyant”
  3. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
  4. The Number of the Beast
  5. “Run To The Hills”
Powerslave is great but the actual cover is inferior to all the other cool artwork accompanying.

5 - Piece Of Mind (disturbing depiction of Eddie and the detail of the opened door revealing the cell room is floating among the clouds is simply brilliant)
4- Live After Death (the sense of motion in this painting is breathtaking: the windy storm, leaves all over, the striking lightning pulling Eddie out of his grave... mind blowing)
3- Killers (that eerie yellow light, Eddie's sadistic grin, the moment captured when you see the assassin killing its victim and he turns and spots you... perfect)
2- Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (Dali meets the Maiden imaginary... what's not to like. If the main motive is easy to relate to the concept of the album there is a myriad of surreal symbolic details on the background that give space to a zillion interpretations. There's so many things going on here)
1 - Somewhere In Time (Speaking of many things going on... this jaw-dropping extravaganza straight out of Blade Runner's landscape driven directly into Maiden's universe is simply amazing. And once again the dramatic sense of motion on the main motive (especially the twitching hand of the guy that's been shot) is perfectly captured.

P.s.: Honorable mentions to Powerslave and Fear Of The Dark. Then 2 kind of meh! covers that would be amazing were they replaced by the images featured in each respective booklet:
