Top 25 Most Influential Heavy Metal Albums of All Time

Maybe so ... but didn't he do a song called "Heavy Metal" for the soundtrack of the movie of the same name?

HYPOCRITE! :>[
Funny you should say that, as he was asked about this in an interview he did a (few) years ago - it took place a short while after the film was released. He talked of not wanting to be classed as HM and all that gubbins - so the interviewer asked why do the song "Heavy Metal". His reply was to say that he simply sung about the genre and tried to encapsulate the whole thing in a song, "And I think I did just that." he then said.

Obviously, I doubt very much I could back this up with a link to the interview (it was either in Sounds or Kerrang!) as it was done a while back.

I do remember this song very well - but never got to see the movie.

The target demographic of that movie, like the magazine it's based on, is 13-year-old boys. Which means that if you ever get a chance to see it, and you have nothing better to do, you may as well experience it once. You may enjoy it, but don't set your expectations too high. Although it does have its moments...

"He's nothing but a low-down, double-dealing, backstabbing, larcenous perverted worm!
Hanging's too good for him.
Burning's too good for him!
He should be torn into little bitsy pieces and buried alive!"

That does not surprise me at all.  Every interview of Hagar I've heard ends in a self-contradiction.

Venom huh ?

SLAYER's KERRY KING On Early Musical Inspirations: 'To Me, It Was All About VENOM' - Feb. 10, 2007

......

The Columbus Dispatch: How did heavy metal inspire you as a teenager?

Kerry King: Well, it took me awhile to get to the good stuff. Heavy music to me early would have been VAN HALEN, DEEP PURPLE. The thing that transformed me was hearing (JUDAS) PRIEST on the radio. But, to me, it was all about VENOM. I still listen to "Welcome to Hell" and "Black Metal" all the time.

The Columbus Dispatch: Which guitarist first inspired you?

Kerry King: Eddie Van Halen. You can't even talk about guitar and not mention him.

also taken from STEVE HARRIS'S WIKIPEDIA INFO

One of his all-time favourite bass players was Pete Way from UFO, who was said to influence Harris' playing style greatly.
