Dick Brucinson

The TRUE Dick Brucinson
Here comes a list of some true legendary Maiden concerts (absolutely incomplete), all pre-reunion. If you could travel back in time to attend TWO of these shows: Which ones would that be? Short explanation of your choice appreciated.

Btw: Creating this poll I realize that not a single "legendary" Maiden show from the reunion era comes to my mind that. Sure, there have been great nights such as Rio 2001 e.g., and I myself saw them at Donington in 2003, however, I wouldn't call this all "legendary". Okay, Ullevi 2005 perhaps.

I would have probably picked a different date for the 1988 tour.
That said, Donington 1988 did have the biggest PA system of its time:

The 1990 edition of the Guinness World Records contained the following entry:
"Largest PA system: On Aug 20th, 1988, at the Castle Donington 'Monsters of Rock' Festival, a total of 360 Turbosound cabinets, offering a potential 523kW of program power, formed the largest front-of-house PA system. The average Sound Pressure Level at the mixing tower was 118dB, peaking at a maximum of 124dB during Iron Maiden's set. It took five days to set up the system."

However, it was a very unfortunate event, as two members of the audience died in the crush and several others were injured.

It must have been a massive Iron Maiden show, but it's truly tragic that the events of the day cast a dark cloud over the entire performance. It’s a real shame that no professional video footage of the show has surfaced to this day. Likewise, there is an audio recording, but it has only been partially released on various single B-sides and the Eddie’s Archives box set. So, it would be great to hear the full performance one day.

Honestly, Belgrade 1986, the first date of Somewhere on tour, would be my choice. SIT is my favourite album and it's the only live performance of TLOTLDR. Then I'd probably choose a Flight 666 date, because I became a Maiden fan in the 00s, but wasn't old enough to travel and see them live. I, also, think that in that decade they were at their best.

Any show of the European Somewhere on Tour '86 dates. That setlist was out of this world.

Also any show of the European World Piece Tour '83.

Do you have some advice (link) for the best available video bootleg from that Donington 88 show? I think there's different versions around and I never made it to comparing yet.

Btw, anybody an idea why Bruce changed his stagewear at some point during the 88 tour? There were two entirely different trousers.

Back In The Village was played live in Poland???
Yes. There is whole thread about it here. It was probably played at the first two shows. Btw there is whole tape that is supposed to be from Warsaw, but it's from Wroclaw, where BITV was not played anymore. The mistake came from the fact that Bruce pronounced Wrocław very similarly to Warsaw. So the tape we know as Warsaw is actually from Wrocław. :D

cool. is there a recording of the whole song? or at least more than the first seconds? amazing. didn't know this.

Second night in Paris.

Quiz: Which tour and show am I referring to?

I have couple different versions, but they are all just filmed from the screen. I wish there was proshot version someday..and full audio even if Bruce's voice wasn't in best shape that day.

Interestingly enough I'd take Rio 2001 over any pre-reunion show in a heartbeat.

For people of a certain age (i.e., you and I), legendary is usually associated with gigs they did not attend and only read about in the music magazines back then, in the days when wanking was still a thrilling experience.
