As you scream into the web of silence...
While thinking about Opeth's new fan-voted setlist (which only gives fans the options of three songs per album), I started thinking about what it would be like if Maiden did the same sort of thing. So I went and used Setlist.fm to figure out which songs Maiden would be most likely to play from an album were they to do a history tour where every album got represented with one song. This means I did not include songs that haven't been played live or haven't become live staples (ie only played on their album tour). I gave every album at least three options to choose from, and I'll break down why I included what I did here.
Iron Maiden
Every song has been played live and most more than once by the band. The title track is a given so I just didn't include it here. The only other two I left off were Strange World and Charlotte The Harlot since they've barely played those two.
Killers
These songs are the most played from the album.
The Number Of The Beast
Of course TNOTB, RTTH, and HBTN are here, and I also included Avenue and Children because of they've been brought back for other tours.
Piece Of Mind
The only songs played live that I left off are To Tame A Land, because it was only played during the World Piece Tour, and Still Life, since it wasn't brought back for the 2012/13/14 Maiden England tour. The other songs here have all been played on more than one tour.
Powerslave
The songs played live from the album minus Losfer Words, which was dropped partway through the World Slavery Tour anyway.
Somewhere In Time
The band notoriously doesn't like playing stuff from the album, due to how the "studio magic" fails to translate live, aside from Wasted Years and Heaven Can Wait. Ruling out a surprise appearance from Alexander The Great, the third song I'm including is Stranger In A Strange Land, because it was a single and seems more likely than any others on the album.
Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
All the songs played live from the album, minus Infinite Dreams. Since they cast it aside for the newer Maiden England tour, I don't see any return of it imminent.
No Prayer For The Dying
Hard to pick songs from this one. In the end I just went for the three singles.
Fear Of The Dark
Obviously the title track, and Afraid To Shoot Strangers since it replaced Infinite Dreams for the newer Maiden England tour. Third song is Be Quick Or Be Dead, because I think they're more likely to play that one than From Here To Eternity or Wasting Love.
The X Factor
The first three songs since they're the only ones that have popped up outside of The X Factour.
Virtual XI
Obviously The Clansman, and Futureal because of the Ed Hunter tour. I also threw in The Angel And The Gambler just because it was a single and I don't see the other five songs popping up anytime soon.
Brave New World
The first four songs on the album, since they're the most played from it.
Dance Of Death
The title track and Wildest Dreams, again because they're the most played from it, and Rainmaker because it was a single and Paschendale because it's a fan favorite.
A Matter Of Life And Death
Once again the most played songs from the album, simply because I think they'd be more likely to go for them since they lasted into the second leg of the tour.
The Final Frontier
Because its songs have only been played on its tour, I'm including all five.
The Book Of Souls
All the songs played live from TBOS with the exception of Tears Of A Clown because they dropped it for the second leg. I could've left out The Great Unknown too, but its taking TOAC's place might give it more longevity going forward.
With all that said, vote for one song per album (16 votes total) that you'd want to see live. My votes will be as follows:
Phantom Of The Opera
Murders In The Rue Morgue
Run To The Hills
Flight Of Icarus
Rime Of The Ancient Mariner
Heaven Can Wait
Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
Tailgunner
Afraid To Shoot Strangers
Lord Of The Flies
The Angel And The Gambler
Brave New World
Paschendale
For The Greater Good Of God
The Talisman
The Red And The Black

Beyond that, feel free to use this thread to come up with history tours that you think would be pretty cool. The songs don't have to come from the poll FYI.
