Trooper
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Children_of_Bodom

The link there says:
"Despite popular belief, Children of Bodom have never covered the songs "The Trooper" by Iron Maiden (cover actually recorded by Sentenced) or "The Final Countdown" by Europe (actually covered by both Norther and Dispatched)."

I downloaded the song as The Trooper - Children of Bodom, and I really believed the guys playing were Children of Bodom, even the voice sounds like Alexi Laiho, on the other hand, we know sometimes, Wikipedia is wrong, so, could anyone tell me is this is true?.

i thought it was children of bodom too but looking back im not really sure. I cant hear the keyboard and the bass sounds a bit different. The finnish accent is really clear on the second verse too.

yeah exactly, anyway I was checking the sentenced url, and I saw that the album story: a recollection has indeed the trooper song, however I really don't know if the song I have is the one that sentenced covered.

It's Sentenced, not COB. fact. Learn to live with it.

And Sentenced did sound like that on their early albums, so there's nothing peculiar about them sounding like COB on that track.

I hate it when mp3s get mislabelled. Causes tons of confusion and loads of "OMG listen to the friggin' song you newb" moments for me.

'The Trooper' has been horribly covered by [a href=\'http://www.maidenfans.com/imc/index.php?url=madeintribute&lang=eng&link=tributes#track7\' target=\'_blank\']Lord Belial[/a], [a href=\'http://www.maidenfans.com/imc/index.php?url=calltoirons&lang=eng&link=tributes#track3\' target=\'_blank\']Vital Remains[/a], and [a href=\'http://www.maidenfans.com/imc/index.php?url=scandinavia&lang=eng&link=tributes#track3\' target=\'_blank\']Frozen Sun[/a] on tribute albums, as well as by Sentenced on their 1993 EP called quite aptly The Trooper.

And the moral of the story is: never trust the tags of music files you download from the Net. If you have a brain, try to use it. [!--emo&-_---]/sleep.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'sleep.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

Their official site says it's not them so you'd better believe it.

I know what you mean, and I usually don't trust them, but since this one really sounded like the little kids of bodom, I had to be sure.

I had the same problem. For the longest time, I thought that Children of Bodom had indeed covered the Trooper (which sounded horrible by the way). I later found out that it wasn't them. I also found a cover of Aces High that was claimed to be done by Children of Bodom, even though it was from some other band.

I found a Wasted Years cover, and it says it's by Helloween, but I really doubt its actually Helloween.

I also stumbled onto a cover of Fear of the Dark, and I think its Cradel of Filth, but I'm not completely sure.

Children Of Bodom indeed covered '[a href=\'http://www.maidenfans.com/imc/index.php?url=tributetothebeast&lang=eng&link=tributes#track2\' target=\'_blank\']Aces High[/a]'.

To the best of my knowledge, Helloween never covered 'Wasted Years'.

The Cradle Of Filth-sounding cover of 'Fear Of The Dark' you refer to is probably the the one done by [a href=\'http://www.maidenfans.com/imc/index.php?url=tributetothebeast2&link=tributes&lang=eng#track12\' target=\'_blank\']Graveworm[/a].

For more information, there's always the [a href=\'http://www.maidenfans.com/imc/index.php?link=tributes&url=index&lang=eng\' target=\'_blank\']Tribute Albums page of the IMC[/a]. Its not Cradle Of Filth, im almost 100% sure of it. Dani Filth's voice doesnt sound like that, only live does it sound so "early-children-of-bodom-ish".

While we're on the subject of Bodom, what does everybody think of their latest offering, "Are you dead yet?"

In my opinion it has a very different style to the other albums with interesting mixes used. I think they have grown up with this record, away from their raw, melodic beauty and have possible evolved into a mallcore influenced band [!--emo&:(--]/sad.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'sad.gif\' /][!--endemo--] There are definitely less of the keyboards in this album and it is much darker IMO.

I also noticed that the drums sound terrible in this album, something similar to Metallica's S.T Anger. The snare drum doesn't sound deep or juicy, instead very tinny [!--emo&:(--]/sad.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'sad.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

I hope these probelms get sorted out this year and another classic album is on the way [!--emo&:D--]/biggrin.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'biggrin.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

i know exactly what you mean with the snare drum and keyboards, they sound different, not like the previous ones.
