first song : Pleasant Street, Tim Buckley --->http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=quJ1z-vdTK0&NR=1

You dont remember what to say
You dont remember what to do
You dont remember where to go
You dont remember what to choose
You wheel, you steal, you feel, you kneel down

All the stony people
Walking round in christian licorice clothes
I cant hesitate
And I cant wait
For pleasant street

The sunshine reminds you of concreted skies
You thought you were flying but you opened your eyes
And you found yourself falling back to yesterdays lies
Hello, pleasant street, you know shes back again
You wheel, you steal, you feel, you kneel down

All the stony people
Walking round in christian licorice clothes
I cant hesitate
And I cant wait
For pleasant street

At twilight your lover comes to your room
Hell spin you, hell weave you round his emerald loom
And softly youll whisper all around his ear
Sweet lover, I love pleasant street
I wheel, I steal, I feel my way down to kneel

All the stony people
Walking round in christian licorice clothes
I cant hesitate
And I cant wait
For pleasant street

You dont remember what to say
You dont remember what to do
You dont remember which way to go
You dont remember who to choose
You wheel, you steal, you feel, you kneel down

He was the wizard
Of a thousand kings
And I chanced to meet him
One night wandering
He told me tales
And he drank my wine
Me and my magic man
Kinda feeling fine

He had a cloak of gold
And eyes of fire
And as he spoke
I felt a deep desire
To free the world
Of its fear and pain
And help the people
To feel free again

Why dont we listen to
The voices in our hearts
cause then I know wed find
Were not so far apart
Everybodys got to be happy
Everyone should sing
For we know the joy of life
The peace that love can bring

So spoke the wizard
In his mountain home
The vision of his wisdom
Means well never be alone
And I will dream of my magic night
And a million silver stars
That guide me with their light

dedicated to Perun

The Wizard is one track that just does not last long enough.....

Beautiful song. One of the two that got me into Heep, actually.

July Morning was the one for me. But once you start listening to their early stuff (I'm not that familiar with stuff beyond The Magician's Birthday), you do realise just how good they were back then.

if I'm not wrong the wizard was written for David Bowie, a magic persona trully (like Perun  ;))

as for me, it was July Morning that brought me to Heep too

That's my favourite song of theirs, and has been for a long time. But the songsthat got me into them were Sweet Lorraine, Easy Livin' and Gypsy (the popular ones ;))

Placebo featuring David Bowie  :notworthy: :notworthy:

Strange infatuation seems to grace the evening tide.
I'll take it by your side.
Such imagination seems to help the feeling slide.
I'll take it by your side.
Instant correlation sucks and breeds a pack of lies.
I'll take it by your side.
Oversaturation curls the skin and tans the hide.
I'll take it by your side.

tick - tock x3
tick - tick - tick - tick - tick - tock

I'm unclean, a libertine
And every time you vent your spleen,
I seem to lose the power of speech,
Your slipping slowly from my reach.
You grow me like an evergreen,
You never see the lonely me at all

I...
Take the plan, spin it sideways.
I...
Fall.
Without you, I'm Nothing.
Without you, I'm nothing.
Without you, I'm nothing.
Take the plan, spin it sideways.
Without you, I'm nothing at all

one of King Crimson's most powerful songs

Cat's foot iron claw
Neuro-surgeons scream for more
At paranoia's poison door.
Twenty first century schizoid man.

Blood rack barbed wire
Polititians' funeral pyre
Innocents raped with napalm fire
Twenty first century schizoid man.

Death seed blind man's greed
Poets' starving children bleed
Nothing he's got he really needs
Twenty first century schizoid man.

What about Circle of Hands? That's the one that did it for me. Beautiful song.
