The most "iconic" line-up for IM

Thunderstick Lives!

GRAND SAMSONITE
Hello guys,

Newbie here. My faves are Killers and Somewhere in Time.

I've always wished to become a more completist and passionate fans, but the fact Iron Maiden had millions of line-ups always kinda confused me and threw me off.

So I'm asking you... what's the most representative and "iconic" Iron Maiden line-up, the most popular? It seems like Bruce Dickinson and Steve Harris are the most popular and iconic members... so I think.

Bruce Dickinson
Steve Harris
Dave Murray
Adrian Smith
Nicko McBrain

That's the most popular lineup.

Albums from this lineup:

Piece Of Mind
Powerslave
Somewhere In Time
Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son

Thanks for the fast feedback.
Too bad this line-up lasted so few time. I mean, Somewhere In Time is just a terrific record. I will buy the others, eventually.
I'm wondering why on hell Iron Maiden line-ups usually last so few time, they always change their ranks...

The current lineup is the same as that lineup, with just Janick Gers as the third guitarist.

Albums from the current lineup:

Brave New World
Dance Of Death
A Matter Of Life And Death
The Final Frontier

These are also worth checking out.

AHHH so it's still the same line-up, kinda of. This is very great to know.
So the "real/classic" Iron Maiden was born in 1983... and it is still active today.
This is great, I never got that, I'm just a casual Iron Maiden listener. I'm into Samson/Thunderstick.

Ooops I think I posted this thread on the wrong forum... this is General.

Thunderstick lives,

Dennis Stratton will always be the most iconic member of Iron Maiden ever.

LOL. I was checking the Maiden on Wikipedia, and it looks like there are some members VERY stable in the band since we can remember. Dennis was a meteor, LOL.  :P

Iconic? I suppose that would be the Golden Years lineup, though I would argue the Reunion lineup (2000-present) is just as good. But I think the recent work has been their best.

Golden Years = from Number of The Beast ???

Mostly Piece of Mind through Seventh Son, yes. The Dickinson-Harris-Murray-Smith-McBrain lineup.

I'll be honest the best Iron Maiden album is Powerslave, you truly get the full classic Iron Maiden experience. It's not my favorite though.

Interesting though... the current six-man team is the most stable lineup the band has ever had, even outlasting the "classic" lineup from 1983-1988.

It's 1983-1990.
And yes, the current line-up is older and has recorded equal amount of albums.

But we're talking about the "classic" 1983-88 line-up + the new guitarist, right?

Indeed. If there is any difference, it might be a month or so, not much more. I once tried to calculate it, but the problem is that I don't know in which month Janick replaced Adrian.
