Monster Magnet's Powertrip is not bad, but Hush is a really fun song.
Black Sabbath's After Forever, easy. So Ozzy song, great riff.
Both KYSTL and Damage are equal, not exactly favorites, but still nice. The speed of Damage, Inc is difficult to ignore.
Dokken's Mr Scary is a cool instrumental with great playing (I want to hear it with lyrics too), but against a proper song like The Idol, sorry. One of WASP's very best (despite the 3 minute slow intro) with an emotional chorus. Solos!
Won't Get Fooled Again is a classic, but I usually prefer 80's songs more. So Lay It Down, nice glam.
Avantasia's Seven Angles is interesting and quality long power metal, but The Unforgiven just hits differently.

Not mad about either, going with Monster Magnet, Hush losing points after being covered by Kula Shaker

After Forever

Tough choice, going with my nomination Killing Yourself to Live, but it was close

Could have nominated The Idol myself

Not a great Ratt track, Won't Get Fooled Again

The Unforgiven
is the best track on metal's biggest selling album, the Avantasia track is the sort of metal guff that doesn't strike a chord with me

Hush isn't metal. Monster Magnet pity vote.

After Forever is barely metal, but at least it isn't Meshuggah.

Damage Inc fucking slays.

Mr. Scary is a cool instrumental. Also, fuck Blackie Lawless.

Won't Get Fooled Again is definitely not metal, but I just can't bring myself to vote for Ratt.

The Unforgiven.

You know what the worst feeling is? Voting for Dokken, Ratt, and Monster Magnet basically by default in their respective rounds, and then having to choose between Damage Inc. and Killing Yourself to Live. Both songs crush anything else in this round.

BTW I immediately regretted voting for Meshuggah, not sure what I was thinking there, just acting on autopilot I guess. Consider it an own goal.

I mean it's fine but not really what I want to listen to and not as good as the opponent.

Hush, Monster Magnet. Deep Purple is on a powertrip. But you'll have after forever with Black Sabbath. We really did some damage inc with Metallica. The idol isn't Mr. Scary, is it, WASP? Ratt lays it down and refuses to get fooled by The Who, and finally, Metallica refuses to forgive all seven angels.

Despite watching this thread, new posts never show up in my notifications. Anyways thanks LC for keeping this going, also big ups to jcv for voting for Love Me Like a Reptile, which for a long time was my favorite song of all time. Really is hard to pick an all time favorite song, if you were ask me today what my favorite song is, I would probably be inclined to say Mansion in Darkness by KD or Deja Vu by Iron Maiden. I think my favorite song of all time is pretty fluid actually. Not a lot to note about this round, except that I think Disturbed sucks. Thats about it

Love Me Like a Reptile, which for a long time was my favorite song of all time.
Voting for it just for you. I'm not the biggest fan of it but it's one of those few Motorhead songs where I'm like "yeah this is solid" lol.

Also voting Through the Looking Glass, Davidian (great song), In the End (borderline metal but I think it's important in the genre's history and also it's a banger), Countdown to Extinction, and OH WA AH AH AH

Youre right, Davidian is a great song. I think Machine Head is pretty underrated by what I would consider the "real metal crowd", although I don't actively listen to them anymore. They hit a pretty sweet sound that was at the crossroads of thrash, groove and maybe a little hardcore or post hardcore.

To be fair the only Machine Head I've been impressed by is the early stuff of which "Davidian" is one of the more memorable tracks. The later stuff is just angry groove to me.

I was into Burn My Eyes when it came out, and saw them open for Slayer on that tour, but they bandwagon jumped into nu-metal, in an embarassing and shameless manner, almost instantly.

Gamma Ray's Valley Of The Kings (some interesting vocals) and HammerFall's Templars Of Steel (classic metal) are some of my favorite power metal songs. Pure melodic catchiness!

In The End is different and class.

Countdown To Extinction is melodic Megadeth and it works, but the vocal delivery isn't that good for me on it, although fitting. The melodies are great and familiar(!). The song deserves to be noted and I like it (definitely one of their better songs), Jailbreak is just fun.

Down With The Sickness is effective enough. If only Machine Head had different vocals.

Nightrain is fun and nice. Symphony X are one of my discoveries (Nightwish vibe, metal, hard rock, keys), the song is proggy, good and interesting. It's always tough to choose between a rocker and a long and complex piece, especially if you enjoy them. I think Symphony X's ideas deserve praise.

Nightrain is the best track on Appetite, Symphony X aren't my type of music

Davidian is a good track, Life of Agony could be ok but it just sounds awful

In the End is ok, pretty much every LP track is the same formula, but this is the best out of them. Hammerfall are one of the better, or rather least bad, Power Metal bands, (their first album is actually good) and Templars of Steel is a decent track

Valley of the Kings is not great, I like Motorhead but I'm not their biggest fan in the world, I wouldn't be nominating Love Me Like a Reptile, but it's the way better track here.

Tough call, Symphony is better

She Sells Sanctuary is the best track in the round, Disturbed is the soundtrack of a generation, a shit generation
