Got back from Deftones and Gojira earlier in the week. What a great experience! The eclectic crowd was one of the most interesting things about the show. The rave girls got to meet the battlevests in the pit during Gojira, not to mention the entire crowd was all GA and filled with 7,000 people. That show also made me really want see Gojira play a full set though. They sounded perfect!

Raging that tour isn't coming here, saw Alice once before and The Cult a good few times, both great.

Seeing Europe, Foreigner and Whitesnake tonight

I have seen The Cult twice (back in 2010). I cannot claim to have seen a full Alice Cooper show though: I saw him as a guest at the Sunflower Jam in London in 2012 and heard his show at Sonisphere Sweden 2010 from the distance sheltering from the deluge that turned the venue into something like Donington in 2016. It sounded good but I could not see a thing.

Europe are a fantastic live band.

Saw The Cult three times: 1993 opening for Metallica. 1994 promoting their self titled album and 2009 preforming the superb Love album in its entirety. It's a pity I never saw them previous to that since by the early 90's Ian Astbury's voice was already quite degraded. Great live act though.

I was at them 4 times I reckon judging by this:

I wasn't at the 1991 and I think one of the dates in 2008 must be a mistake as they definitely didn't play the same venue twice in the space of a few months, I was at a gig in the Olympia as I remember a drunk jumped on stage and Astbury ran backstage like a light, with Billy Duffy laughing at the cowardice, but I'm almost certain there wasn't two gigs.

EDIT: I'm not certain I was at the Vicar Street one now, I don't have any memories springing to mind.

EDIT 2: just looked it up, Rovers were playing away in Sligo on the 5th March 2016 so I was not at that 2016 gig:lol:

Europe were pretty good, there was only two tracks I didn't know and it was a kind of a short set, but they played well.

Foreigner who I wouldn't be a fan of, don't have any albums, not even a hits compilation, but they were very good. Played great, had good sound and quite energetic on stage. Best band of the night.

Whitesnake were a bit shit. Sound wasn't great and not very energetic. Coverdale is finished, was low in the mix (presumably on purpose) and let the crowd sing most of it, and there was 4 people in the band singing backing vocals with a second keyboard player who seems to only be there for the vocals. They also had a bit of a disaster, the last track the front of house sounds for the drums seemed to have gone for most of the track and it ended up sounding awful. The bass player was Irish so she got a bit of a reaction from the crowd but otherwise they're wasn't a lot of reaction, and a lot of the crowd were gone before the end.

It kind of sums up what I have heard about how Whitesnake are live these days. A shame...

Yep I saw them about 10 years ago on a similar 4 band bill with Tesla, Journey and Def Leppard headlining and they were the best band of the night then when all bands had played pretty good.

I saw Tool last night. First time in my twelve-ish years of listening to them, possibly the first opportunity to see them outside of a festival in that time. Set spoilers - It was very Fear Inoculum-heavy (they actually played it all bar Descending) so I was getting a little lost at some points - my fault, I've only had two years to listen to the album! - and I was a little disappointed they did not play The Pot as I'd seen it was in a few previous sets but it was hard to be bored with the absolutely stunning visual show. The band were on fine form too, Justin's bass sounded fucking huge, Maynard was more animated than I expected*, sang Happy Birthday to Danny Carey during one song and I spotted Adam with an usual looking Flying V.

It was also my first concert where phones were barred from use. I've never been too perturbed by them at live shows and didn't really take much note of their absence until Maynard reluctantly allowed them on during the last song, then I realised how much of a difference not having a sea of glowing screens in front of me actually made.

In all, good show, I'm glad to have crossed Tool off my concert list. If I saw them again I'd have to do a bit more boning-up on their material to avoid any blank moments. Set highlights: Sober, The Grudge, 7empest (first time since 2020), Invincible.

Fear Inoculum
Sober (plus happy birthday to Danny)
Undertow
Pushit
Pneuma
The Grudge
Right in Two
7empest
Hooker With A Penis
---
Chocolate Chip Trip
Culling Voices
Invincible

*A friend who saw them at Download once said Maynard spent the whole time in the shadows (as usual) and didn't say a word to the crowd.

Did they play alot songs from Out Of This World?

I don't know what albums their tracks are on, I only have a best of, that doesn't seem to be on wiki.

The ones I knew were, obviously the Final Countdown, then Rock the Night, Cherokee, Carrie and there was another 2 off that best of that I don't know the names of, one an early track I think he said was off Wings of Tomorrow and then another fast track that sounds a bit like a Dio sort of track.

There was two others, that I didn't know at all, they opened with a track with a sort of Kashmir style riff and then I can't really remember what the other one I didn't know was like.

The early track is Scream of Anger, an absolute banger!
