Myles was amazing, gave me a reason to really look into his last solo album again following my initial listens, and it reminded me of some of his excellent other solo work from Year of the Tiger and Ides of March
In a positive turn of events, Opeth did anounce an autumn European tour and I did bought a ticket. Also, decided to give myself and wife a little treat and end up buying tickets for Morrissey. Oh, and I finally bought Blind Guardian ticket so the year looks like this now:
27.05. Iron Maiden - Budapest (HUN)
28.05. Iron Maiden - Budapest (HUN)
01.06. Iron Maiden - Bratislava (SK) - I still need ticket for this one, if anybody has any or knows somebody who does - PM me!! (tickethub, gigsberg and similar are not an option)
19.07. Morrissey - Šibenik (CRO)
27.07. Gojira - Zagreb (CRO)
23.08. Blind Guardian - Zagreb (CRO)
07.10. Opeth - Zagreb (CRO)
06.12. Clutch - Zagreb (CRO)
EDIT: As I posted this I got the message that Satch and Vai announced a gig near me, although doubt I'll go.
Went to see The Darkness (supported by Ash) last week. Highly entertaining show, with the band playing 7 new songs off Dreams on Toast, their new album that will be released later this month. The album is not even released and Walking Through Fire and I Hate Myself are already instant classics!
Get the The Darkness Setlist of the concert at G Live, Guildford, England on March 11, 2025 from the Dreams on Toast Tour and other The Darkness Setlists for free on setlist.fm!

Next show will be Manic Street Preachers in Bristol next month.
I usually only get to see one band in autumn/winter time, and this year I've been thinking about Arch Enemy/Eluveitie/Amorphis. I'd like to see Eluveitie and Amorphis again but not bothered about Arch Enemy yet again. Plus its at the O2 Apollo in Manchester, which is possibly my least favourite venue. Then Katatonia announced a show in Manchester. Their last one wasn't so good, though.
Then Aephanemer announced a Manchester date at a tiny venue in December. Seeing as I was very impressed by them at another small venue in 2023, I'd ended up getting tickets for that one.
I'm still considering Blaze's afternoon show in Bradford. I can get there and back in the same day easily.
I saw him when he was doing Rage for Orderand Empirein full during a single show after the pandemic... I don't know if you're a longtime fan, or anything, but it was really good. I recommend going!
Saw Kent in Stockholm this weekend. Reunion show, big thing - 6 concerts at 3Arena (40,000 capacity). Swedish language alternative rock, crazy popular (for some reason)... I don't know, I tagged along and the perpetual drowsy feel of their music doesn't gel with me (fans might call it "hypnotic"). Good light show, otherwise not my thing.
I'll be seeing them in Swansea in May. Third go round for them.
Followed by:
Panic Shack - May - Newport Corn Exchange (6th or 8th time depending on how you classify 'seen')
Shonen Knife - June - Cardiff Fuel (4th time)
The Anchoress - June - Cardiff Tramshed (2nd time)
Iron something or other - June - Manchester Co Op Live (9th time)
Neil Young - July - London Hyde Park (2nd time)
Nova Twins - October - Bristol SWX (2nd time)
Gwenno - November - Cardiff New Theatre (6th time)
If it wasn't for seeing Half Man or Half Biscuit back in February then this would be the first year that I hadn't seen a (headline) band for the first time since 1995.
3-28: Geoff Tate - performed Operation Mindcrime and not only did he and his band sound great but the venue was packed and sang every word! Was cool seeing Patricia as Sister Mary again!
4-8: Wheel - 1st time seeing this prog metal/rock band from Europe and will definitely see them again!
4-14: AC/DC - Well worth a 4-5 hour drive! 1 of the most high energy shows I ever saw! Both Brian, Angus, and the audience were great! Far better production than I expected as well. Great seeing Riff Raff live! Openers Pretty Reckless were good.
4-17: Bullet For My Valentine & Trivium- great double bill! Bullet played entire debut lp Poison & Trivium played all of 2nd lp Ascendency (20th anniversary of both); great performances by both and place was pretty full!
4-19: Obituary- 2nd year in a row to drive 4 hours to Dallas to see them headline and well worth the drive! Sounded great and played more than half 2nd lp Cause of Death for 35th anniversary!
