When I want good early metal with warm analogue sound, I pick Stained Class. That album has a lot of class.
Painkiller I used to consider my favourite album in late middle school. A couple of years went by without hearing the album and now that I've become familiar with it once again, I must say it is a metal masterpiece that few can equal. Glenn Tipton played some of the best guitar solos in metal on that album, the guitar riffs from him and KK are absolutely essential from start to finish, Rob Halford was phenomenal and Scott Travis brought a new energy with drums that pound like cannon fire. Painkiller is the ultimate example of melodic heavy metal, it is the aspiring rock guitarist's wet dream.
