AMOLAD is the most consistent Maiden album. I don’t have any issues with individual tracks — song arrangements, mixing, and performances are all spot on. Sure, it doesn’t have the classic Maiden sound most people look for, but it’s definitely their most polished album from the reunion era. For me, it’s on the same level as SSOASS.
I’d argue that Brave New World is just as consistent, but every other album has at least one dud in my book.

Seventh Son because as much as AMOLAD is a gem, it's also over 70 minutes which is simply excessive for an album that's ten tracks long.

Seventh Son does more with much less runtime and has absolute all-time Maiden tracks on it. They were at their peak on that one and while AMOLAD is also obviously their reunion era peak, it still suffers from all the reunion era woes with a comparatively weak opener and many overlong arrangements, more than a few awkward repetitive choruses, and a certain lack of musical progression with the usual all E all the time approach.

Ironically enough, I feel like a lot of these issues really got their start on SSOASS, but even so the title track's chorus doesn't repeat to the point it gets obnoxious and the middle section is surprisingly restrained in length, and of course followed by one of the best solo sections in metal.

SSOASS by a long distance run. That's not to take away from AMOLAD but as mentioned above, tracks like Different World, Lord of Light and The Legacy prevent it from perfection.

Whereas SS doesn't have a filler on it and I include The Prophecy on that. When every other song is a 10/10 and one is a 9/10 that makes it as near enough to perfect as you can get. They've never done a better album.

@Siddharth this was a tough one! I like both albums but had to vote AMOLAD.

It’s the heavier of the two albums and I think Bruce uses a much broader vocal range in AMOLAD.

One of my great Iron Maiden regrets is not seeing a show from the AMOLAD tour where Maiden played mostly songs from that album.

I was lucky enough to see a show on their TLotB tour and hear FTGGoG live, though.

Seventh Son. That was easy for me: Seventh Son is always on my top 2, while AMOLAD never really catched me. It's a great album, ok, but I just can't see it as a masterpiece, as many of the members here consider.

You must be nuts indeed... AMOLAD is a monster of an album and I love it. But... compared with SEVENTH SON???? Nah. Not that it's miles away but still Seventh Son IMO is a different league.

I thought this must be the most difficult matchup but really surprised by looking at Seventh Son winning by a landslide. I mean, I almost go through an ethical dilemma while ranking these two records LOL! Though both are in my top 5. :rocker: For me, Seventh Son still remains a rank above AMOLAD.

Silence!
Chill :D ... It's not that much of a chasm between them in my rank too (SSOASS #3 and AMOLAD #7) but in the end IMO SSOASS is considerably better.
