Sonisphere 2013

As the Download vs Sonisphere lineup battles continue, I saw this article suggesting Iron Maiden"might" play at Sonisphere.

Is there any particular reason why they would choose Sonisphere over Download, or have you lovely forum posters heard differently?

I'd prefer to see them at Sonisphere, I was lucky enough to go to Download this year but I had a few issues, but I'll save that for another discussion haha!

Also I've been spotting on a few forums that some reckon which ever festival date their choose will be their only UK 2013 appearance? This can't be true!?!?

If maiden only played one festival show in the UK this year i would be destroyed... and have to pay for plane or boat travel out of my student loan which would be less than ideal :p surely not on a tour named Maiden England Personally i dont do festivals, i go to shows to get to within three rows... not three football pitches ;)

My opinion would be that if Maiden did do a big festival then sadly i imagine it would be their only UK show, however at this point nothings confirmed and some people claiming to have inside knowledge leading toward them playing this festival or that... its irrelevant
Though an official looking poster is quite compelling... maybe i should get some travel funds ready

They're either going to do a festival or another Twickenham-like gig i.e. like SBiT. I can't personally seem them playing anymore than one date in the UK either. This isn't a tour off the back of an album, & previous "history" tours haven't seem them tour the UK proper i.e. like they did with TFF tour. So, I ain't holding out for anything extensive in the UK, which is annoying, as I propbably won't get to see them.

I think there have already been rumours that they'll be on the Sonisphere tour again next year. Plus the Knebworth leg needs some credibility back and their booking agent co-owns Sonisphere.

That's what I was thinking, 2012 was a really bad year for Sonisphere, so for them returning with Iron Maiden's only UK show would ensure popularity. I'd prefer Sonisphere if they were only going to do one festival, but overall I think it really punishes a fanbase when bands choose a festival as their only date.

It's better than doing a show in a stadium. At least with a festival there's loads of other bands and you can choose who you want to watch and the £200 for the ticket is probably better value for money than Maiden plus a couple of usually duff support bands for £70. Unfortunately Knebworth is about as far away from most people as Twickenham is, but I will be living in Birmingham for a year starting in a few weeks time, so travel won't be as big an issue as it would be if I was still in the middle of Scotland!

You're right I forgot to look at it that way, when I went to Download this year, it probably would have cost me half the weekend ticket just to see Black Sabbath alone haha!
