songs that sound better live

I thought it was pretty good, as was all of AMOLAD live.
it was ok but I didn't like Breeg live either until I saw them in June. It might be the same with legacy (which is my favorite AMOLAD song

The drums and bass on Stranger In A Strange Land sounded too rushed/poppy/unsmooth....guitars and bruce were great but maybe it was just one of those songs that is difficult to replicate live.  Not that I am/was much of a critic, being all of 13 when I heard the saw them play the song live in 87...

Legacy from Globen 2006 sounds good enough and the only thing that isn't good about Infinite Dreams live is Bruce. On another night it must have been better and certainly if they gave the song a chance today they would make a great version of it.

The title track is overrated even live.  But fans love it, so I go along.  It just seems like a cliche mandatory metal anthem.  Maiden is so much more than that.  I guess it'd be better, if it was treated as a rare live track, as opposed to the mandatory song that the band feels it is.

There's songs from the Di'Anno album that slay IM live.  Off the top of my head Drifter, Murders in the Rue Morgue, Prowler, Phantom of the Opera.  I'd rather see one of those played every show instead.

I think that most Maiden songs sound better live. Exceptions for me are the songs from Somewhere in Time (that atmosphere and unique sound can't be recreated, nor can it be done in a nicer way), and a couple from most other albums. But the big majority of Maiden's catalogue sounds better live.

Sorry, I must have misread the title of this discussion. I thought it was "songs that sound better live." I too would rather see Murders, Prowler, Phantom, Charlotte, Strange World, Remember Tomorrow, Killers, Prodigal Son, etc. than Iron Maiden. My point is that Iron Maiden is much better live than on the record/tape/CD/MP3.

That's the problem with the internet, it's hard to get tone across without hearing intonation and seeing body language. Re-reading my post I can see how you interpreted it that way, especially after a seemingly confrontational counter point from you. Not trying to be rude here, just trying to defend my point. Sorry that it came across that way. (Also please note that I did not say "sorry if anyone was offended by what I typed" which is truly a non-apology and seemingly all too common lately.)

... no matter who is the vocalist:

''Running Free'' - it sounds more powerful live.
''Hallowed Be Thy Name'' - I like that it's faster live.
''Revelations'' - the crowd participation is really needed.
''Heaven Can Wait'' - the chorus is better live and this is my only complain about the song.
''Bring Your Daughter... To The Slaughter'' - I always liked the added ''yeah-yeah'' intro live.
''Fear Of The Dark'' - this song shines live.
''Journeyman'' - it has a solo live and the because of the crowd participation.
''The Red And The Black'' - not that I don't like the studio version, but live the song is even better.
