Somewhere Back In Time The Best Of: 1980-1989

Haha, if only you knew LC. For instance, my promotion party on Friday was only a guise. We were really getting together to plot our overthrow of the planet..... yes, that's right, ALL of us! Women and children first please............

Nice pic, LC!

Here, buried away in the midwest, I am insulated from a lot of 'worldly' sentiment.  However, I know it is there.  What do you do, as an individual.  I vote, I will try to contact my elected officials, and still believe that the freedoms that we have here are a great thing!

As to the 'new' album, meh.  I'm not big on 'best ofs' unless its like the b-sides or something like that.

Oh, and Deano-- the golden beaver has left the chicken coop.

(that is a US secret code that only we here know... the rest of you, beware!)

If we want to have a discussion about the opinion of America in the world, I think there's another forum......

I took the advantage of the free download, before I realised that the tracks were limited-play, and had DRM to boot.  I presume that the live tracks are taken from Live After Death (Hence, 'Phantom...' is from the Hammersmith concert on the 2nd Disc)? This would explain why the version of 'Aces High' instantly tagged itself as being from 'Live After Death' and had me running rings around my hard drive trying to find it.  Pricks.

I agree, and was just waiting for that.  :)

Anyway, to clarify my point on the subject, I will get none of the songs available for download but don't begrudge others for doing so if they so choose. I actually would get it if over half of my Maiden collection wasn't destroyed 15 years ago..... that just took the air out of my collecting sails...

Surely you weren't surprised by that?  It was pretty clear in the announcement that they are DRMed.  I also downloaded it but haven't listened yet; supposedly the LAD ones are re-mixed from what you get on the CD (I think the same as the new mix on the DVD), so I want to take proper time to listen to them in detail.  But I'm not quite sure about the remix thing though; I think I read it somewhere, but it could have been anywhere really.

I'm going to try how easy it is to avoid that DRM though; not that I need the tracks, just to see how easy it is to fool the system, as I've never had any DRM songs before.

Oh, and the album art is available here.  Both front and back covers, fortunately.

I've heard Aces High and couldn't hear much difference. If anyone can tell me what's new about any of the tracks, I'd be glad to know, cheers!

The live recordings on SBIT are the same recordings found on Live After Death.  Not sure whether they have been remixed, but if so, it is very subtle.  Maybe a beefier low end, but that's about it.
