So... what has security been like so far?

I am going to the Chicago concert in two days, and I would love nothing more than to get my HD camera into the amphitheater. I know sometimes security is constantly trying to prevent this, and then sometimes they don't care and might not even check you.

So for anyone who has gone to the previous concerts (preferably outdoor venues), what has security been like? Do they search you? Have camera's been allowed in?

Any info will help please (Yes, I am willing to try and sneak it in... hence why I am wondering about security... who knows? Maybe cameras are even allowed?)

Considering there is practically a video for every song for every date on this tour so far on Youtube, i'd say security is either pretty lax, or non consequential.

Not necessarily; I saw a few that were recorded with handy cam style camcorders.  Most are cell phone recordings though, yes.

Well either way I think we can all agree that this man is trying to commit a crime and we should notify the local Chicago authorities.

Sneaking a camera into a concert is not a crime, if anything it may be against the place rules..

worse case scenario if I did get caught is they'd probably just ask to take it to the vehicle

For what its worth, I was at the holmdel show, and a kid a row behind me was filming.  Security made him come with them, he returned sans camera, so id say they either held it for him at the office or made him take it to the car.

It was frisking in Denver. They made us empty our pockets and hold that stuff in our hands while they frisked us. Enough to find any camcorder on you, unless you jammed it where the sun don't shine.

Last time I was at MSG, they let us walk in with bags and cameras in hand, no problem. I could have had an Uzi in that bag for all they knew!

Yeah, now that you mention it, they didn't look at the stuff in my hands at all.

But I have been to shows where they do check that stuff.

Your safest bet is a hidden pocket in a woman's purse. Even if they make her hold it open for them to look in (which is rare, but I've seen it), you'll get through. I've never seen them search purses in detail.

I'm not sure whether digital cameras were allowed into the Blossom theater last night; I had my radio station tuned to their channel, but there was so much static that you could barely hear what the announcer was saying.

They DID make us empty our pockets, and pull our pants legs up. I guess they were checking for knives or guns. That made me feel a bit safer, though if someone wanted to sneak stuff in, I'm sure they would have managed it.

Someone did sneak in fireworks, because someone set off a shitload of fireworks right before Iron Maiden played their encore. And I saw a policeman walk past me at another point in the concert, I guess on his way to boot someone out.
