Setlist In November?

Judas Priest (a very conservative band when it comes to setlists) made an interesting point for their upcoming shows.:

RockConfidential.com: I guess picking tracks for a greatest hits would be like picking a setlist. You're gonna have the ones you're closer to. Casual fans have a certain set list they want to hear but there's always going to be the die-hard fan that wants to hear something a little more obscure.

Tipton: "Yeah, it's the most difficult decision on this Earth to put a setlist together. What we have decided is that next time we go out we're going to change it drastically. We're really gonna look back at songs we haven't played for years. Songs like 'The Rage' or 'Rock Hard Ride Free' or 'Saints In Hell'. It's stuff people haven't heard in a long time. But even when we do that we'll still disappoint some fans who want us to play their particular favorites. It's a no-win situation but we're going to do our best to satisfy everybody the next time out."

I am curious what a Maiden member would think after reading this stuff.

Would it be: "Change our setlist drastically? No f**king way!" or "Hmm, not a bad idea, I am getting tired of playing "Fun with my bills".

I think I'd be happy with any setlist. Even if it omits all my favourite songs- any Maiden song will be an experience live.

I can imagine. It's your first gig, so that's quite an experience itself.

Really, I don't care. I love all of Maiden's works, and they'll be even better live. Since Hallowed is one of my favourites of theirs (and a definite), I'll be happy. IF they keep Paschendale, I will be ecstatic. If they play something odd off Seventh Son/Brave New World/Somewhere in Time (Thinking along the lines of The Clairvoyant, Out of the Silent Planet/Dream of Mirrors, and Heaven Can Wait/Deja Vu here), I would hit the roof. I know the last few are unlikely, but you never know, right? Anyway, there'll be a lot of crowd pleasers, some good new songs (I hope), a few strange (yet welcome) choices, and the Trooper to really piss off the Irish audience (who will probably get stuck between yelling along and glaring at the Union Jack), so I'm happy!

As usual, agdabavipainintheass is completely and utterly wrong.
It's a full-time job correcting his disinformation and lies, but someone's gotta do it.

forget about ID.
IM played it only on 1988 tour.
CIPWM, TETMD and TC are live classics for years (1988, 1990/91, 1992, 1993, 1995/96, 1998, 2000/01, 2003, 2003, 2005)

That quote implies that all three songs ("Can I Play With Madness", "The Evil That Men Do" and "The Clairvoyant") have been played on all Iron Maiden tours since 1988. Instead of this blatant lie, here are the facts:

1988: The only tour which contained all three songs.
1990: Only "The Clairvoyant" was played.
1992, 1993, 1995, 1998: "The Evil That Men Do" and "The Clairvoyant" were played.
1999, 2000: Only "The Evil That Men Do" was played.
2003: "The Clairvoyant" played on GMETID, "Can I Play With Madness" played on DoD Tour.
2005: None of the songs were played.

By my calculations, agdabavipainintheass is 52% wrong. You would get more accurate statements if you relied on flipping a coin.

Remember, boys and girls: agdabavipainintheass is always wrong, and you are strongly advised to ignore anything he says.

I hate to correct you, especially here, SMX, but all three songs were played on the Fear Of The Dark and (I think) A Real Live Tours. They are included on the ARL/DO and Live At Donington albums.

Apart from that, you are completely right, in everything.

I based my statements on the setlists as recorded by Maverick on the Commentary. There may have been occasional variations on those setlists at some shows.

Yes, I know what the setlists say, and I believe them. Still, you should have been careful enough to check the official live albums.

As an American, I feel free to manipulate the facts to my advantage. It's a tradition in this part of the world. [img src=\"style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/biggrin.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":D\" border=\"0\" alt=\"biggrin.gif\" /]
