Sepultura - life without the Cavalera's

Albie

Keeping an open eye on the Weeping Angels.
With the departure of Igor Cavalera (citing musical differences - don't they all), Sepultura is now no longer with either of the Cavalera's. It just won't be the same without them.

I'm not very familiar with Sepultura, I don't even own an album (I intend to buy an album as soon as I get a little money) but through the songs I've heard, and the fans I've chatted with, I've got the impression that Max and Igor Cavalera is Sepulturas 'Arry, the bands backbone. And with both Max and Igor departed, I can't help wonder if Sepultura will survive. Now, for a moment I'll imagine Maiden without 'Arry. Now, I see a band where Adrian and Bruce "controls" the musical guidelines and a band which drifted away from what it is all about. Don't get me wrong, I love their musicwritings but Bruce and Adrian are sometimes a bit too comercial in their musicwriting. And if 'Arry is not there to control it, then it falls apart.

Now, that's about the same situation Sepultura is in now, (am I right?) without the backbone and without the same touch in the songs. Could this band become what it once was in the current situation? I don't think so. Could Maiden be the same or would it be as in my little "fiction" I wrote above?

Indeed they were (up until his exit, Max was the main lyricist). In fact the only member left from the original line up is bassist Paulo Jr.

Some cite the early stuff as their best era ("Beneath the Remains" to "Chaos AD") if you need a pointer as a newbie to them.

Sad indeed, but shit happens and bands sometimes surprise us (Stratovarius technically doesn't have any original member), Angra Survived Andre Mato's departure, Metallica Burton's death and so on. Sure they are "different", but enough people stuck around to give them careers.

I completely agree, I think it's part of life, I mean, people often try to evolve, so, whenever they feel like they need something new (in this case, new music), they need to find another source to satisfy their hunger for new things
