Senjutsu charts position

Wasn't sure where to post this but Maiden will go through 5 billion Spotify streams this week. YouTube views more than 1 billion.

Senjutsu has 165 million Spotify streams, does about 50k per day. Writing has 49 million Spotify streams, does 15k per day, most popular song from the album by a long way with Days Future Past having 24 million streams.

Writing has 50 million YouTube views.

And bands complain they can’t make money from streaming these days :p

If Senjutsu alone is doing 50k streams per day then if they only make 10p a stream that’s £5k a day or over £1.8m a year! Or halve that if it’s only 5p a day but that’s still huge.

Compare that to selling a cd 30 years ago which was a one off purchase and no further revenue from that no matter how many times it’s listened to over the years.

Dont know how it works for the bands but at least it shows senjutsu its a good album. Do you have the others numbers for post reunion albums?

Aren't Spotify streams worth like fractions of a penny?
Streaming Platform Payouts:
  • Spotify: Pays artists an average of $0.003 to $0.005 per stream, with slight variations based on whether the listener is on a paid or ad-supported subscription.

  • Apple Music: Pays artists an average of $0.00783 to $0.01 per stream.

  • YouTube Music: Pays artists an average of $0.00069 to $0.008 per stream, with lower payouts for ad-supported streams.

  • Amazon Music: Pays artists an average of $0.00402 to $0.0096 per stream.

  • Other Platforms: Tidal, Deezer, Pandora, Napster, and Qobuz also offer different payout rates, generally falling within the same range as the platforms mentioned above.

It's obvious Maiden can't exclude themselves from streaming services: not only would they be losing money (hey... everything counts!) but also availability (since there's a fair amount of people who don't consume physical formats) and more importantly web exposition. That being said, when it comes to physical formats, I believe Maiden receives between 15 to 25% of each unit sold from Parlophone. Taking into account the last two albums were doubles (with vinyl versions prices being fairly high) who sold a humongous number of copies... yeah, it's a wrap.
