Ancient Mariner
Yes, it is true that as the most recent one it gets different emotions compared to when it will be re-evaluated more objectively.
My take: too many tracks haven't grown on me. I include most of Parchment (except for its stellar ending) and Celts. Lost in a Lost World has stayed about the same, which is I like it very much but its not exceptional. And I have never fallen much in love with Darkest Hour. The title track has fallen in my estimation.
I like the production and I love the highlights, WOTW and HOE. Time Machine, Stratego and DFP are also enjoyable.
Overall, as I wrote elsewhere, my reaction to Senjutsu also conveys my 'reunion fatigue' with the bloated way they have been composing for some time now. It remains a solid 7 or 8 out of 10 album, really enjoyable and validating of the band's continued existence. But something has got to give, stylistically, to really differentiate another album if they make one.
