Good call. I wonder if the reasons for doing a 3rd leg twice before were just to change a couple of songs (they didn't for the first 2 legs). We know that in 2014 they wanted to take a break and ME tour wasn't originally planned (so they weren't sure what to do), but the planned 3rd leg of LOTB tour, even with a potential debut of a new single, was like kind of odd. Planned from the start, obligation for 2022? And it wasn't a pure 80's set. The production played a role, like maybe now? They wanted to record the shows, they haven't played in Asia/Oceania during it, but their ideas of debuting a new single during a different and shorter tour in 2010 (especially) and 2003 were better. I understand that idea then, even for 2020 (2022 was worth it because of the SJ songs), cool promotion, but now... if they decided their future with Simon. Maybe they would do it because they need more time to record a new album. The only logical 3rd leg would be Part 2 (with dates in Europe, again), but would they do it - too much of a change? Although possible with the screens. I like to think this idea has a better chance for a shorter leg of a tour than a whole new tour for 2 years. Btw, 2014 could have been a great History Part 4 short tour.

They were probably offered a shitload of money by Sonisphere and other festivals to play in 2014 and decided to keep the tour going. Replacing 3 songs with 3 different ones (later it was just 2) was possibly just an afterthought.

My only gripe with the setlist is that they didn’t include a single NPFTD song after marketing the tour as covering the first 9 albums. Literally all they have to do is tack on Bring Your Daughter (a mid tempo crowd pleaser that’s incredibly simple by Maiden standards and gives Janick another solo) and I think most people would be happy. Yes, I’d love to see a deeper cut from that album like the title track, Fates Warning, or Public Enema; but I don’t think they would go over as well with fans.

Usually I'm not a big fan of such an approach, but for most albums this would mean that at least one previously not played song would resurface (which is always awesome imo!). Also, I'd rather get something like SSOASS in its entirety than a "best of best of tours" kinda tour like the current one. The current show was awesome, but I don't need to revisit something like that, I enjoy the post-80s material too much for that.

Ok, I think the three most likely candidates for this kind of tour would be TNOTB, SSOASS, and Powerslave. I just don’t see POM ever getting a full play through, plus it was heavily featured on LOTB. Then SIT just had a big tour. Killers and the debut are highly unlikely simply because I believe they retired most of those songs in 2005, three Killers songs are currently in the set, and since Di’Anno’s death Bruce has stated that they will never play Remember Tomorrow again.

Which leaves my three choices.

TNOTB: It’s their breakthrough album with lots of hits and they’ve played most of the songs live. It would also give them an excuse to bring back Total Eclipse. The only issue with this album is that the band doesn’t really like Invaders or Gangland. I think Adrian likes Gangland, but I don’t think his influence alone could convince the others.

Powerslave: Arguably their best album. Two of their biggest singles and the last two songs are fan favorites. The middle section of the album has been neglected live and there are some fantastic songs that most fans would love to see live. Only issues with this one is that The Duellists and Back In The Village are pretty tough songs on vocals and guitar plus this album has been represented in the set a lot over the past 25 years.

SSOASS: Also arguably their best album (though I personally disagree). Very popular with new and old fans. Would work well live since there is a loose narrative that runs through the album. Only The Good Die Young is a song that Steve has wanted to play live and this would be the best way to do it. Issues with it: Infinite Dreams is a tough song and they already did a retrospective tour for it.

Conclusion: SSOASS is the most likely because it would feel very cohesive live and it is popular both with the band and the fans. TNOTB has two songs that we know for a fact that the band dislikes. The Powerslave staples are a bit overplayed and two of the songs are bit complicated.

Of course I could be dead wrong in my takes.

This should be a thread on its own. I really like this concept and I’d love to see other people’s opinions.
 
They should do a two night fanclub member only extravaganza at like Brixton Academy one day called "The rarities and formerly unplayed" show where the fans know only rare songs will get played and won't expect to hear Trooper, Evil That Men Do etc.

Sure some of the classics might pop up in the encore but I'm talking them playing stuff like Only the good die Young, Run Silent Run Deep and Bruce singing Judgement of Heaven.

They won't but they should. They won't make much money doing it but they should still do it because it's my idea and all my ideas are great.

That would be more likely. As I wrote weeks ago I don't think they will play in Slovenia. Start in Bulgaria, Greece, maybe Turkey, Romania, Serbia, Croatia (Zagreb arena, capacity 23.000)..., that kind of order and to the central and northern Europe.

2026 is south america and north america for sure.if they tour europe again that would be a big tour for iron maiden. Like 5 or 6 months with weeks off
