RUN FOR YOUR LIVES WORLD TOUR (2025/2026)

Thanks for sharing this video.

Interesting bits at the start about his (new) solo album, with 18 tracks demoed in 15 days with his band and to be produced by Brendan Duffey and to be recorded in early 2026. I wish the guy running the show would have asked him about Roy Z at that point…

His management will have given the interviewer a list of topics that must not be addressed. Metal Hammer Germany was explicitly not allowed to ask Adrian about the loss of his house or about Nicko and Simon during the interview about the new album.

I remember (and it should be in a thread in this forum somewhere) that Roy had replied on Facebook to a forum member that we would soon know/understand everything - not really.

...Hmm, now that I think about it, Maiden could actually play Infinite Dreams on the upcoming tour. Might end up around the third song in the set—just like Children of the Damned was on the Book of Souls tour. And honestly, the title Infinite Dreams fits perfectly for the band’s 50th anniversary.

Hell, thinking about it now—Infinite Dreams would make a damn great opening song. Just imagine hearing that melodic intro... oh my gosh... seriously. It would hit hard.

Really fitting—as a celebration of their whole career. The song starts off slow and nice and the goes into BERSERK mode. Sort of like If Eternity Should Fail.
At this point, I fully believe Infinite Dreams WILL BE THE OPENER.
(Mark my Words)
Oh, man, now ANY other song picked to be the opener will be underwhelming. I'm with you, hoping our Infinite Dreams will finally come true...

"There were other drummers that people thought were in the frame, and of the reasons we didn’t pick those other type of drummers, although they were very good drummers, they all wanted to sound like Nick"
A few more curious things he said:

  • He once again called his next solo ''Mandrake 1, a follow-up'' and said the interviewer might have heard some of his new demos???
  • For this year, his solo shows are less on purpose. To calm down a little bit after last year. For his next solo album tour, he needs to have a clear view of the plans - so Maiden's plans for 2027 are still unknown.
  • The record company said Bruce is one of their best-selling vinyl artists and they are happy.
  • All of his solo albums benefit from a remix.
  • ''And Simon was suggested by Steve, and we all went, 'Yeah, but how do we know it's gonna work? We're gonna rent a rehearsal place and we're gonna just give Simon a go just to see if it works, just in case.' So we did. And a couple of us were, like, 'I don't know how this is gonna be, but hey…' And honestly, I was pleasantly shocked. I was, like, 'Wow.' We went through the whole set without a break. And this guy had not rehearsed with anybody. He just, like, turned up with Maiden. We went through the entire set of the tour that we were on at the time, and it was all there. I thought, 'My God, we could do a show tonight if we had to. That's unreal''.
  • He again noted that Nicko retired from touring. Which is good. They are doing the best for the music.
  • ''Maiden has always been greater than the sum of any individual part, which is kind of the way it should be, really, when you've got something like that''.
  • ''The show that we've designed is unlike any other Maiden show we've ever done''.
  • He said the setlist is for the first 7 or 8 albums. Come on, Bruce.

He hypes the setlist like every time, but I think he wanted to emphasize the new stage show. I really hope the set will deliver too.

from Blabbermouth:
"Well, we've already had a rehearsal with Simon on the last [MAIDEN] tour. Simon was tagging along with BRITISH LION, as Steve was doing shows [with both bands]. But it was kind of insurance for us because we weren't sure… We were hoping Nick [IRON MAIDEN's longtime drummer Nicko McBrain] was gonna make the tour, but there were some times during the show when, not so much his drumming, but his physical body was really… We were worried. We were, like, 'We do not want to end up with Nick in hospital, and we do need to have a backup.' And Simon was suggested by Steve, and we all went, 'Yeah, but how do we know it's gonna work?' So we said to Nick, 'Look, in the middle of the tour, we've got a couple of days in Portland, Oregon. That's unreal.'

Explaining why Dawson was the right man to replace McBrain, Dickinson said: "The incredible thing was with Simon, which, obviously, when it was suggested, after Nicko decided to retire, or retire from live playing, that Simon should take over, and there were other drummers that people thought were kind of in the frame. And one of the reasons that we didn't pick those other type of drummers was 'cause, although they were very good drummers — nothing wrong with their drumming — they all wanted to sound like Nick. And you can't replace Nicko. You shouldn't even try to replace him. You don't want a Nicko clone. You want a drummer that plays the material but plays kind of their own style. And if I'm honest, if I closed my eyes at moments during that rehearsal [with Simon], it was like having [late MAIDEN drummer] Clive Burr back in the band, 'cause he's got that feel. It's that big band swing time feel. He has all the same influences and everything. And I was just, like, 'Oh my God. Wow.' So I'm actually really excited."

Reading all of this… honestly, it feels kinda messed up. Like, it basically means ALL BAND MEMBERS ARE REPLACEABLE.
And they didn’t want a Nicko clone? Fine. But then why is Bruce so happy with Clive’s clone??

I’m not angry—just nitpicking a little, that’s all.
And reading about Bruce’s reaction to rehearsing with Simon… yeah, I’m pretty sure we’re gonna be blown away by how much better and more rejuvenated the band will sound with a healthy, strong drummer behind the kit.

Thanks. :okok:

Yeah, I felt the same and it's a shock. But also from Bruce's words, they were really not that sure replacing Nicko, but the show must go on.

I think he just wanted to illustrate his style. Clive was a respected drummer, he always admired his drumming (Nicko's too). Maybe he wanted to point out that he is a different drummer than Nicko.
I find the comparison to Clive interesting and odd.
Why odd? Probably a stupid question.

True that.

After Bruce's interview, I think they'll open with a hit or aces high and then play deeper cuts for the first 30 mins + an epic and then the hits + another epic.
Starting with the deep cuts (which are popular) is probably the right thing to do, although who knows. 50/50. But why with Aces again...
1.tailgunner
2.prowler
3.wrathchild
^Not sure. Maybe Wrathchild.

This.
I heard it with a grain of salt. Bruce is always like this every interview he gives prior every IM tour.
Yeah, but this time it feels different. Not just the stage set. Let's see how ''deep'' the cut/s will be.
That would be weird but nothing that IM hadnt never did. They started the 2022 shows with senjutsu.
It's a different scenario though.
To me, apart from music, the thing is a kind of spectacular aspect of the show.
Agreed. The expectations are high for sure. As always.

Probably this.

It seems like he's trying to gain favor from Maiden fans who refuse to accept new members, comparing him to a previous part of the band's history that this tour "coincidentally" is celebrating. Maybe he does have more of a Clive feel to him, but it just seems a bit weird (especially after stating how "Maiden is bigger than any members").

Some interesting tidbits in here about Simon and the setlist.
I Didnt find any hint that says powerslave will be played

Yeah he mentioned a new bird mask but he was laughing...who knows?
Maybe he needs a mask for another song, but I really want it to be powerslave for many reasons. One of them is that if they play both Rime and Powerslave, they might not play Aces High.

I think aces high has 0 options. Last time was one of the highlights with a spitfire on stage. What will they do to now? Nah,imposible. We have seen aces high many times since reunion. Will be another opener

Is the mask comment the only thing people are taking as a hint toward Powerslave? Because it could also be Phantom of the Opera, or any song really where Bruce might don a new costume.

'Maiden has always been greater than the sum of any individual part, which is kind of the way it should be, really, when you've got something like that''.
Translation: this is now a band that is willing to replace members as long as there is enough of an appetite to keep the band going.

i can see this. I also read it as more suggestions that the band is thinking about the first few albums as the main focus of this show.

I thought the Clive Burr comment is a little funny since it's in the context of Dawson playing a setlist that's comprised almost entirely of Nicko era songs, and I absolutely don't trust Bruce's judgment as a singer to be enough to make that kind of claims about material Clive never played on. It felt more like a "hey, we've replaced well-beloved members before and it all worked out in the end" fueled namedrop than an honest comparison.

It does not make any sense to wear a bird mask for Phantom of the Opera, but with Bruce one can never be sure!

The clive burr coment is almos the same hetfield and ulrich said about r. Trujillo feeling like clive burton playing bass.
Its clear that you cant replace nicko so it will sound diferent but ok
