RUN FOR YOUR LIVES - The setlist contest

Even after Alexander?
If you were Iron Maiden, and you were going to play songs that hadn't been played in 30-40 years (or hadn't been played live at all), would you pick a track off of one of your least beloved albums that almost no one is clamoring for? Or would you pick a song from the '80s records that are way more popular and that more people would get excited over? Especially in the context of a 'greatest hits' tour where most of the slots will be filled by genuine classics. I really think NPFTD is a pipe dream, but we'll see for sure in a week I guess.

All of that is true, but this is a special anniv tour (though only for half of their albums, still find this odd, unless they have plans for Part 2 as a 3rd leg), so I'd like to think there's room for one or two, like, obscure songs. More so in a 18 songs set, for example (the songs not played in a long time with a chance are only Infinite and Land). Priest played a song from their debut. It depends on whether the band wants to play them, now is their best chance for more than 1 90's song and it could be like a new song. The 90's albums have great and underrated gems, some could be popular enough live. And there are some 80's songs that are obscure for the casual fans, right. Like Alexander.

edit: hearing some songs on every tour (not the big classics) is what I'm not a fan of at all. Despite the odds, I have high hopes for the set and the stage.

I edited my initial setlist a bit yesterday (before the lock).
Anyways, this is what I predicted (surely not going to happen) but Im happy if they atleast at last give Infinite Dreams slot in the setlist:

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES - RESULTS!

A huge, heartfelt thanks to all who participated by submitting their guesses and taking part in the setlist speculation in general!

Congratulations to the winner(s) - yours is the glory!
But remember, death or glory - it's all the same!

USERSCORENOTES
1. @Prowler 17Setlist spots for Phantom of the Opera, Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Hallowed be Thy Name guessed correctly; also +1 point for a correct total amount of songs!
1. @Trevoire 17Wrathchild-Killers-Phantom sequence was spot on and a correctly guessed spot for 2 Minutes to Midnight secured the (shared) high score of 17! Set submitted technically late, hence placed as a "second" of the winners.
2. @mepatrik1 16
2. @PieceofMind89 16
2. @Poto 16Almost up there to share the 1st place with 17 if they sticked with their previous entry; correctly guessed positions for Wrathchild, Phantom of the Opera & Rime of the Ancient Mariner would have scored a bunch! Aces High was also included. Good effort nonetheless!
2. @Ben Beast 16
2. @Wickerman1204 16Having 1-2 songs more on the correct spot would've secured a victory for them! This entry had correct amount of songs, but only Wrathchild + Iron Maiden ended up on a correct position.
2. @Austrogoth 16
3. @WickerMan03 15
3. @Starblind 15
3. @Arrakis 15
3. @NAriel15(EDIT: fixed their score)

@Diesel 1113
@Spambot13
@reimdaase13
@Azas13
@Smither13Their first guess ended up being a slightly more high-scoring one; it would've been 16 points! E.g Murders in the Rue Morgue was correctly placed as the opener there.

@Black Bart10
@TheMercenary10
@Diplomat9
@Dick Brucinson8A very optimistic set submitted - bold!

Some notes:

- significant amount of entries almost hit a jackpot with the following songs: The Clairvoyant, Powerslave, 2 Minutes to Midnight & Rime of the Ancient Mariner; all of the mentioned were often included in the setlist guess and placed somewhat correctly to the middle of the set, but usually their order was guessed slightly wrong, hence only 1p per song, excluding Rime of the Ancient Mariner which was correctly submitted as 9th song of the set rather often
- Wratchild-Killers sequence was quite a popular guess! However, Wratchild as a second song of the set wasn't quite as popular as you'd probably think
- Phantom of the Opera was relatively often guessed correctly as the fourth song!
- Overall, people were able to figure out the thematic flow of the set rather well: a lot of fast-paced, old numbers first, three Powerslave tracks played as a bunch, some huge epic(s) before Iron Maiden...
- A lot of people lost an easy 2p by placing "Iron Maiden" somewhere else than at the end of the main set; bold move and could've had a huge pay-off, but... Maiden is Maiden!
- Alexander the Great was a very popular guess for the Legacy of the Beast set and this time the role for the (eventually) unfulfilled dream was placed on Infinite Dreams, Only the Good Die Young & To Tame a Land which popped up fairly often given that it hasn't been played since 1983 and is quite a mouthful for Bruce
- Be Quick or be Dead was surprisingly upfront as a guess for the opening track, where as Murders in the Rue Morgue apparently wasn't very popular candidate for the opening spot!
- *nobody* suggested Flight of Icarus! I consider that a surprise since it's a very popular song that has been "dusted off" quite recently

Most commonly chosen songs that didn't end up in the setlist:
*52 setlist entries in total*

Bring Your Daughter... to the Slaughter 37/52
Infinite Dreams - 30/52
Running Free 28/52
Be Quick or be Dead 27/52
The Evil That Men Do 23/52
Die With Your Boots On - 22/52
Only the Good Die Young 16/52
Sanctuary 12/52
Prowler - 12/52
Moonchild 10/52
--
To Tame a Land 9/52
Stranger in a Strange Land 9/52

Where as Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, that ended up in the set, was only included in six (6) entries! Murders in the Rue Morgue got submitted in seven (7) entries... so Be Quick or be Dead got +20, wow.

---
- I should've taken part in this myself, as my Instagram setlist guess would've got 19 points... :D Admittedly I made that guess just before the first date of the tour, so if I participated here earlier on, I would've probably made a different, a lot more incorrect one. Anyway, here's my guess just for fun:

1. Murders in the Rue Morgue
2. Wrathchild
3. Die With Your Boots On
4. Killers
5. Phantom of the Opera
6. The Trooper
7. 2 Minutes to Midnight
8. Rime of the Ancient Mariner
9. Powerslave
10. Infinite Dreams
11. The Clairvoyant
12. Fear of the Dark
13. Hallowed be Thy Name
14. Iron Maiden

15. The Number of the Beast
16. Running Free
17.
Run to the Hills

I would love a leaderboard for all tours so far.

I'll do that too!
