Rise To Remain to support Maiden in 2011

Just checked the official site, and Rise To Remain, Bruce Dickinsons son´s band are set to support Maiden through the first month of touring, Australia, Russia, Singapore and Japan together with Bullet For My Valentine.

So first it was Lauren Harris supporting, Now its Austin Dickinson that gets a push by "dad"

And it will be interesting to see how many of the 2011 dates Rise To Remain will do, of if Maiden will find a bigger support band for the arena tours in Germany and the UK.

Oh dear. I hope these two bands don't support them in the UK. :S I wish Iron Maiden would get proper supports bands instead of the new breed of kids Metal bands (although Bullet for my Valentine don't really count as Metal). At least North America got Dream Theater earlier this year. I'd love it if they took Blind Guardian around the UK with them.

I'm with you on this.  Sure, I'm not there to see the openers, I'm there to see Maiden; but in 2008 I'd rather have waited in silence than listened to Avenged Sevenfold.  I would feel the same way probably about Bullet for My Valentine.

Seriously, this is not cool.

I don't care however good or bad they are, nepotism shouldn't come into this.

hmmm, i guess thatll do... if they supported through the UK it wouldnt be a disaster cause my girlfriend doesnt mind bullet
oh actually ive listened to some of rise to remains stuff ...  ahh well, as long as theres no imbosiles that decide to start pits then standing for it should be bearable
still they should get support good enough to rival the news last year of heaven+hell support (RIP Dio, surely the souls of sweet savage could have pleased the reaper instead)
:halo:

I've never really cared who supports Maiden. I've never bought a ticket for a support act and probably never will. That said, would've been cool to see Alice Cooper open for them at Sonisphere  :notworthy:

Dream Theater was great opening for Maiden.

The fact is that the support act is factored into the cost of the ticket, and the crowd deserves a good show - all the way through, including openers - and not nepotistic promotion.

Not a fan of Dream Theatre at all. Saw Trivium open for Maiden and they were appalling. Funeral for a Friend were so bad I went to the bar til they were done. Hmmm who else? Halford sucked out loud, Turbonegro and Marilyn Manson were shit too. Back in the day it was The Almighty ad Dirty Deeds who left me underwhelmed and most recently Sweet Savage left me cold. Can't remember any others :)

Snake, you gotta stop making excuses for these guys... :P

Seriously, you've got a point.
I liked Halford and Queensryche on the Brave New World tour.
Besides that...I don't know.
Twisted Sister was kind of fun in 1984.

I wouldn't mind seeing Avenged Sevenfold once as they used to be one of my favourite bands. Bullet for my Valentine are actually quite good live - I've seen them twice but I can't listen to them anymore as I've completely grown out of them. I'll stand through rubbish bands waiting for a headliner if I have to but I'd rather not. I'm going to see As I Lay Dying tomorrow night (you lot probably all hate them :P) and I have to stand through two really awful bands before they come on. On the flip side, in 2009 I saw too really awesome shows where the line-up was flawless: Judas Priest, Megadeth & Testament in February, then Testament, Onslaught & Warbringer in the summer. It's hard to beat that. I understand that Iron Maiden want to help these younger bands get a bigger profile for themselves but if they're charging £40 a ticket then they ought to think more carefully about who they take with them.

On one occasion in 2008 I fell asleep at the side of the arena (after a few too many sherries) and missed the whole of Avenged Sevenfold's set.  :ok:

Listened to a couple of songs of theirs and no it's not of my taste at all.
I'd love to see Blaze opening for them in a huge arena show instead of the small pub shows he usually does.  :edmetal:

Yeah I tried to get into his music many times because he comes across as a genuinely decent, hard working guy but he's just not my bag. I'd love Maiden to offer him support though, I think it'd be a really nice gesture.
