The Finnish-German alliance was merely a military one. In fact, following the Finnish-Soviet cease fire of 1944, Finland went to war against Germany to drive German troops out of the country.

Apart from being characters in Lord Of The Rings, what do Bilbo Baggins and Aragorn, son of Arathorn (did I spell that correctly) have in common?

Thanks for that Perun.

Did these two characters share the same birthday (or is that to simplistic)?

EDI: Scrap that, not the right answer.

They are considered friends to the alves?

No, people. Think outside of the characters.

I don't know Lord Of The Rings well enough to ask questions about the content anyway.

In the initial draft of Lord Of The Rings, Aragorn was a hobbit (like Bilbo) named Trotter, and they were relatives.... :uhm:

It has nothing to do with the content. People, I only know the story from the films, so I can't ask anything about the content.

Hint: It has to do with the names.

- First letters of first and last name are the same, alliteration (BB and AA) ?

No. I'll give you another (very strong) hint.

They're not breeds of cattle, are they?

EDIT: Or something to do with bull fighting? (Bilbo/Bilbao - bit of a long shot)

Not a long shot at all. Erase the bull fighting and you've got half of it.

There is a man alive today who, through his direct action, is credited with saving more lives than Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Bush, and other genocidaires combined have killed (or caused the death of). Who is he, and what did he do?

Raven wrote some commentary on "Brighter Than.." (found here) and in it he mentioned a chap called Stanislav Petrov. It was his "lack of protocol" in dealing with an apparent detection of a nuclear strike on USSR that had averted a potential disaster - simply because the detection of the missiles was down to computer error. Had he informed the Soviet command by pressing the start button, USSR would have retaliated.

Is it him? (full credit to Raven if it is).
