Umm, Onhell, circumsizion may be curent in the American continent, but as far as I know, around here, if you're not of judaic religion, there's no chance of you beign circumsizd. Is there anything to do with pheromones or continuous/discontinuous spermatozoa production ?

Or is this a trick and there's no difference between human males and other primates ? I wouldn't be surprised. [!--emo&:D--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/biggrin.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'biggrin.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

There's no trick. There's a fundamental physiological difference, the second feature being just an "extra" for the question. [!--emo&^_^--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/happy.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'happy.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

Remember the hints:
- Humans lack something that the other primates have (funnily enough, this element was lost through evolution because of the human females!)
- The other feature has to do with size.

Human male genitals are bigger in proportion, since other primates do mate monogamously (the female being faithful) leading to no competition in this aera.

Something like this. Not sure I clearly remember though...

You've got the "size feature" right, The Saint. Human males have (as an average) the greatest penile length/girth ratio of all primates.

I doubt if it's due to faithfulness though, as humans (males and females) aren't exactly more faithful than in any other mammal species (with maybe the exception of dolphins, and then again I'm not so sure). Animal couples that stay together for life can mostly be found in birds.

That still leaves us with the main feature that makes humans unique among primates. What is it that they have and we don't? [!--emo&^_^--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/happy.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'happy.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

The other primates have a bone in their penis. But I don't understand why it was lost because of the human females [!--emo&--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/huh.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'huh.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

Well done Syl! It was indeed the penile bone!

It was lost through evolution thought female selection of the males who appeared not to have one. As the females could witness both the flaccid and erect state, they could recognise the males without a penile bone. If there was notheless a strong erection, it was an indication of a healthy blood pressure and a good vascular system. Therefore, the males without a penile bone but with a good "boner" (Nephellim will laugh at this one!) had more chances to reproduce and generate more offsprings with no bone but a healthy vascular system.

Female selection has been an important factor for the evolution of many species (the tail of some paradise birds comes to mind), and the human species is not immune to the power of so-called "weaker sex". I’m surprised with this explanation. Where did you learn that ? Not that I don’t believe you but I thought it had something to do with the standing straight position and it’s consequences on the shapes/positions of the female pelvis and vagina.

Anyway, here’s the next question
What’s special in this sentence : “The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog”

My point about faithfulness is that female primates are more faithful than humans, not the other way around.

A female primate will mainly stay monogamous (the male can stay polygamous, though) as for reproduction (breeding).

Hence, there is less "sperm competition" than with humans.

As for 'The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog', sorry, but I know this one: all letters can be found in the sentence.

My question: 'Heresy' comes from a Greek root meaning what ?

No worries. I just have to think about a question that's not as difficult as the previous one I posted.

Well, what do you think of:

How can you recognise right away a fish from a marine mammal that's shaped like a fish?

(I know it's still some "life science crap"! [!--emo&:P--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/tongue.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'tongue.gif\' /][!--endemo--] )

(should be easy though)

Look for a blow hole? (Or gills, which would make it a fishy)

A marine mammal will likely have bubbles rising from it, as they need to exhale just like we do.

It is something you can see, even if you're not close enough to see the blow hole.

"I'll tell you what the blow hole's not for, son ... and then you'll understand why I can never go back to Sea World."
