Random song thread?

So the conclusion of LC’s daily song thread has left a gaping hole in my routine. I miss talking music with you guys.
How many would be interested in participating in a random song thread — same idea as the Maiden song threads, only focusing on non-Maiden songs?
I’m not talking about exposing each other to new music, I’m pitching songs that would be familiar to most of us on the site.
We could take turns picking the songs, or I could host and you guys could PM me with suggestions.
Let me know what you think.
 
That sounds interesting. I would love to see how something like that would work out.
 
SMX did something like that in the Metal Forum last year.  He picked bands and we discussed their music for a week or so.

I say fire it off.  Set it up in the Metal Forum, pick a song-- or maybe pick an album and discuss each song day to day until the album is done.  I'd suggest posting the first 3-4 albums in your opening post, so every one can make sure they can get their hands on them and chime in.

Just a suggestion, tho.
 
I'm going to bump this again to see if we have any more interest and/or suggestions.
 
I imagine even if not too many people comment, there would still be a lot of people wanting to participate.
 
I'm in too. Summertime means I'm not online as much, but I'll make the effort. Old guys like me aren't familiar with a lot of the newer stuff though...
 
Good idea, I'll give it a try.  Always interested in revisiting good albums or finding some new ones to check out.
Another thought/suggestion to keep it somewhat Maiden related.  Maiden has covered a number of bands over the years from well known to more obscure.  It might be interesting to include the album that the cover song came from (for example, Nektar's King of Twilight was on A Tab in the Ocean) or at a minimum the original song.

Yes, lets get it started. How about the first person to comment on the new song chooses the next song? Just make sure it is within a day or two.
 
Personally, I would prefer that it be a random album thread than a song. But if I'm familiar with the song in question (or album, should it go down that route), I'll chip in.
 
I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned, but what if you did Bruce and/or Blaze songs?
 
Blaze and Bruce songs would be great additions.
And the first thread is up in the Metalfans forum.
 
I saw several 'Random Song' threads from the past and I wonder why did it just stop altogether?

Do you guys think it should be brought back? We can possibly pick one song per week with allowing each user not to make new thread simultaneously for another week (i.e. once you picked a song for the week, let another user pick for the next and so on).

I think it would be fun to discuss music along with rating them in a GMSC kind of similar fashion but without restricting to a particular genre.

If you guys want to up this then please respond!
