RULES
These threads are inspired by Daily song threads that featured Maiden songs.
Random song thread has to have a poll that has 1-10 options for voting.
First user to reply to a Random song thread opens the next thread two days later.
If that user does not want to start the next thread, he can pass that option to the next user.
If no one opens the next thread 4 days after the opening of the previous thread, first user to notice it can open the next thread.
Song picking:
-pick songs you think a majority of forum users will be familiar with, or
-pick songs which are unknown but you think a majority of forum users will like it.
When you open the next thread, repost these rules.

Finnish prog rock from 1974. The title track from Tasavallan Presidentti's fourth (fifth if you count Magneettimiehen Kuolema) album, and in my opinion the best from the album and one of Tasavallan Presidentti's best. I give this song a ten.

Hmm, another band I haven't heard of.
Main guitar riff is great and the groove is cool. Some nice playing and interesting tradeoff solos in the middle.
On the down side, the melodies seem lacking and the singer seems to subtract more to the music than he adds.
I'm no Tull expert, but that's what this song reminded me of.
Not an obvious grabber, but I really think this one would grow on me with repeated listens.
Not bad at all.

Gets an 8. Agree with mckindog about the singer. I especially liked the guitar/saxophone trade off solo in the middle.

An 8.22 minute song without any tempo change, that I find a bit boring, especially when nothing else is happening.
The endless disco samba rhythm puts me off as well. Also there is a lack of tension.

No tension, hardly nice melodies, no interesting rhythm, annoying vocals. Sorry, can´t go higher than 3.

Gave it a second chance and I must say that some parts with the piano are pretty ok. Should have given it a higher grade.

Please someone choose a song following this rule. I totally lost my interest in Random Song thing.

I agree with Foro on this song, by the way.

I actually think its a good idea to have new songs. It helps me to discover a lot of new music :) Rating older stuff I already know is fun occasionally as well though.

It is good to discover new songs, but seeing no old stuff simply bores me.

I disagree Flash.

I actually think this is a bit of an unnecessary and also impossible element of the game.

We cannot know which songs fit these criteria, and further:
What's wrong with finding out music I was not familiar with?
Nothing. It's good to keep an open mind for unknown stuff.

At some point in time, I never heard of Iron Maiden ... I think it is always nice to listen to "new to me" music.  Worst case, I spend 10 minutes of my time, best case, I find a new band to enjoy.
