One of my favorite Floyd songs from my favorite Floyd album. I love band vamps, and this one has one of my favorite vamps. It also has one of my favorite outros ever. That's about all I can say, just go listen to it, it's great! :D Easy 10.

Never liked Animals, same goes for this song. Won't rate it, 'cause I'll get lots of blasphemy replies :D

Next poster, open the next thread.

Animals is my favourite Floyd album. The core of it, Dogs, Pigs, Sheep, are three of easiest 10s I could possibly give. This song is one of Floyd's heaviest, it contains some serious early metal riffage, and live versions are absolutely awesome (check the infamous Oakland show)! The line "wave upon wave of demented avengers marching cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream" is simply one of best lyric lines ever written. I could dissect this song inside out, but the ending lines "Have you heard the news? The dogs are dead! You better stay home, and do as you're told, get out of the road if you want to grow old" depict all the "people's" revolutions in history - the tyrant's reign ends, but some of the "people" become new masters. And you better subdue to them.

10

P.S. I don't have an inspiration for the next song, so I'll pass that on to next poster.

I'll give it a 9. This album is probably even with WYWH for me as my favourite Floyd album, and I think I prefer Pigs to this one, but still an amazing tune.

Pigs is my least favorite of the epics. But that's not saying much, it is still a ten. Actually, I think Dogs might be my favorite on the album. I either said it here, or in the chatroom, but Dogs has my favorite Gilmour solo.

I can't give any Floyd more than a 9 anymore no matter how much I like the song. I've OD'd on Pink Floyd over the years, and the sad truth for me is that since I sobered up many moons ago, I seem to appreciate their music less than I did (or thought I did) when I was all fucked up on something. Great tune though...

Floyd on drugs is one hell of a experience, but it doesn't take away anything from "normal" listens. You're just seeking different things/sounds/stuff in music with your mind. Floyd has them all.
