Questions about LAD DVD and possible problem

Hi,

No problem of any kind for me with the DVD in 5.1 audio. :)

I have already watched the documentary  and the concert on disc 1.

Don't ask why Maiden sells so good without any advertisement, when you see the quality of each official production
Once again, superb package, superb quality, superb content! :ok:

Well, the LAD concert was great, as expected. On disc 2 I've watched the "Early Years" doc, and that was great as well.

All in all, well worth $20.

The LAD concert alone was worth the money. The documentaries and extra stuff is just...well, bonuses, really :D I'm a happy camper.

Although, I saw that a 2-disc DVD rip is available at a torrent site and considering the price and how Maiden treats their fans it's just sad.

Same problem with 2 different copies of LAD:

I put in Disc 1, get the production company logos...then a black screen. After waiting 5 to 10 minutes (I varied the time a lot to be sure), I hit Stop, then Play again...and get the menu.

2 different copies. Same problem. Which I guess isn'that much of a problem if I have a way to get around it.

And what did you think when seeing ROTAM like this? That midpiece has such a nice build-up. All other thoughts are banned in these couple of minutes. Stunning.

I'm also pretty curious what you think of disc 2. I love all that footage, especially Behind The Iron Curtain!
I've been to that huge ruin myself, some years ago.

Well, seeing the band performing Rime Of The Ancient Mariner like that was a feeling out of this world. Pure class.

Now that I've been out most of the day, skiing (and having an excellent pancake dinner at the student's cabin out in the hills outside the city) I think there is only one thing to do. Getting on to the second disc. Report will come tomorrow.

I think I like the audio of the LAD video better than the CD. I like hearing the extended Bruce speaking to the crowd sequences and the extended Running Free.

I almost forgot about things like Bruce explaining to the crowd that Queen Victoria would smoke a couple of joints when she was having menstrual pains.

Fantastic DVD. My only regret is that I didn't see them on this tour. I was only 12 at the time, and mom wouldn't let me go without an adult.

Alright! Enjoy :)

Very enjoyable stuff also on disc 2. Both the Eastern Bloc video and the history part about the World Slavery Tour. I haven't watched the Rock in Rio '85 yet and since I have a severe flu today I'm not in shape to listen to heavy metal. It'll have to wait until tomorrow.

But this double DVD is sooooo definitely worth the money. Great stuff. Thanks, Maiden!

:ok:

I hafta say that I was very impressed with Disc 1!  I haven't seen this footage since about 1990, the last time I watched on VHS, and it was so great to see it again.  I popped it in, and all 3 of my kids came to watch.  My eight year old daughter had heard about the giant mummy, and watched most of it just to see that part.  I do so dig 2 generations of Maiden fans in the same house!!

So, anyway, no problems for me, it played without flaw and made me smile from ear to ear.... on to disc 2!

And Bruce threw his guitar up in the air and it landed on his head, but he recovered and kept singing. Just goes on to show how great a frontman he is, and that "singing with face full of blood" does have attitude. :P

I just bought my copy today; I watched the three first tracks, but experienced some sound problems.  With both Dolby 5.1 and the original stereo, Adrian's guitar seemed at times to be completely missing, most notably during his solos.  Very annoying, and I'm not sure what's up with that.  I was listening with headphones, but that shouldn't affect it, should it?  But after that, I switched to the documentary, and that worked fine.

And a reporter from a tv channel that was covering the show said that was fake blood, just to create an atmosphere as KISS does. So i've heard...

Finally picked up a U.S. copy last Friday so was able to give it a good watching over the weekend.  Great timing for the upcoming Japanese shows!

It truly is a wonderful package.  The LAD disk is great, with Martin Birch's stereo track sounding better than ever, and the picture looking marginally better than the the old VHS (I still feel they could have done a bit better with the restoration of the old film but that's a minor point).  Simply wonderful, wonderful show, with ROTAM being the highlight.

The second disk is where the real gold lies in my opinion.  The documentary is good (looking forward to the next part that should be packaged with Maiden England), the extended Behind the Iron Curtain is the highlight of the whole package for me - wonderful film which I had mostly forgotten about having not seen it for over 10-15 years.  The Rio footage is a very interesting insight into the band's largest ever show (and indeed made me want to hunt down Queen's RIR performance as I haven't seen that in years either).  Add to that the Hello Texas segment and all the stills galleries (5 minute gallery of artwork - yes!) and it's simply fantastic.

Here's looking forward to their next DVD release, be it Maiden England, Donnington 2007, or the SBIT Documentary - bring them all on!

I find that hard to believe.  Maiden have never done that kind of thing before, and it's not really their style.  And it was during the Killers tour that they were opening for KISS, they didn't have to suck up to anyone at this point.  And I don't think they'd lie about it in the documentary twenty years later (Bruce and Rob both mentioned it).

And how could the reporter know if he wasn't on stage?

I didn't explain the thing right. The reporter knews nothing about Iron Maiden and Heavy Metal. He thought that every HM Band is satanic and act like Kiss, so when he saw Bruce bleeding he thought that was fake blood. The most of Brazilian press sucks when it comes to Heavy Metal. Bruce really hurted himself with his guitar.

Well, Bruce really acts there as it is a real blood so I believe them :-) Well, in overall, I was more happy with History, part 1. I thought part 2 will contain comments on the period of Powerslave, Seventh son and Somewhere in Time, but they commented Powerslave only.

But Behind the Iron Curtain is great, hehe, really reminder of those years in my country, funny that it makes an impression they were also in Czechoslovakia, but as I recall they were not here (I was only six years old then, so only guessing on what I heard later). But I believe many czechoslovak fans went to Poland and Hungary, I think I've seen czech flag in shots from Poland :-)
