Question about Records...

As i was surfing MaidenFans.com today, i read the box in the upper right hand corner and it said that the band sometimes scratched words into the record. i didn't belive it when i read so when i got home, i looked at my somewhere in time LP and it did have something scracthed on it! side one has:" it were loud" and side 2 has" even quiet bits were loud."

I haven't look at my other ones yet,but i was just wondering if any of yours have anything written on them like that.
 
I've never checked... you mean the band members personally scratched them in? And where abouts in the records are the messages?
 
its right by the "picture" in the center of the record. its like where the numbers are on the record and i do not know if the band personally did it.
 
Can anybody post some pictures that shows clearly the "scratch" ?

It's in the run off grooves which the needle runs down when the album's finished to stop it running onto the label.

The etchings were done by the people at the pressing office, although the band could have done them (no reason to say they didn't)

What they do is they scratch their message into the original acetate, then it is pressed onto each copy after that. People often did it to get their name on it for pressing it, write a message to a friend who likes the band and would see it or just a message to everyone from them.

They were quite a running joke going from the early 1970s up until now, mostly on 7"s but also a lot on LPs. It's always worth going through your vinyl collection to find them, there's probably more than you think!
