PC question/advice needed (security concept & anti virus software help please)

The TRUE Dick Brucinson
What do you folks out there think of the Win11 internal Defender software as the main choice in terms of virus protection (and malware, spyware etc.) on a PC of private use?
Or will I be better off using some external software like Bit Defender, Norton, G Data, McAfee or whatever? I am NOT searching nescessarily for freeware, the cost is not my main focus, but reliability and safety. So if I have to pay for some GOOD and RELIABLE protection software, then I'm definitely ready to do so. Or is the WIN11 stuff itself already fine?

I'm not really deep into PC based questions, so any help about a proper security concept will be appreciated a lot since I'm just setting up my new laptop.

And it'd be cool to get advised which software I should go for in the end to be well protected and have everything locked. I'm doing a lot of credit card purchases, so it'd make sense to have some good safety concept that keeps things safe.

Thank you so much!!!

The built in Windows Defender has been very capable for basic stuff. I'd say that if you aren't actively into shady sites/shady software/etc. then you don't need to think about getting another 3rd party software.

Also as far as I'm doing a lot of credit card purchases, so it'd make sense to have some good safety concept that keeps things safe goes - there's no antivirus better than using common sense and judgments. Beware of what and where you type in your credentials into. If the vendor would redirect you somewhere, make sure that you actually do land on where they redirect you. Set up 2FA everywhere where applicable.
