Uhh...decades? You got your time-scale a bit skewed there...the trouble in Ireland has been going on for about 400 years...it only escalated into full-scale terrorism in the late 60's/early 70's.
Besides, the situation is completely different. The comparison would only work if Israel was about to share power in Israel with the Palestinians. A devolved government was set up here because both denominations were represented in the populace of Northern Ireland; as far as I know, there are not many Israeli communities left in the West Bank or Gaza.
And besides, the only way devolution was restored here was when London threatened to cut the MLA's (Member of Legislative Assembly) salaries...which they were being given despite Stormont having being dissolved in 2003. 'Working for the people's good', my ass.
I will agree that communication and integration is the only solution, though. Once you break down the stereotypes (and the walls) two groups of people have, then you can start to reconcile them.
