Old Timer Introduction

Because if we start going..."Well...youuu...and then youuuu..." then we have to take the next person, and the next person.  The guidelines were established before we looked at names.  This way it is not favouritism that does it.  For instance, I couldn't say, "Hey Forostar, post in the thread", while SMX says "Onhell, I don't like Mexicans, fuck off."  You are both entitled because you fall within the cutoff.

This is an old thread, but with lots of n00bs running around, I thought I'd drag it back up!  ...and there are some more 'Old Timers' that could post now, as well.

I'm Wasted CLV  (the 155th and greatest in a long line of rulers).  Actually, 155 is the number of one of my fav motorcycle racers, and I liked the Roman numerals better when LC used them.  I posted here first back in 2006, looking for info on the AMOLAD tour (saw that in Chitown), then just lurked for a good solid year before posting regularly.  I live in west central Illinois, have some kids, like to ride motorcycles and spend a lot of time surfing this forum (....yeah, not much of a life ;)).  I like the St Louis Blues,KC Chiefs (American Football) most metal, hard rock and Classic rock.  I'm not all that serious about anything I post (usually).  I've worked the better part of 15 years in motorcycle shops, but am now trying to be self employed and likely heading off to graduate school for computer science in the fall.

Looks like i also fall into this category right now.

I've been introduced to Maiden by tape compiled by high school colleague. It had four songs off Powerslave, SIT, SSOASS and No Prayer. First on side A was Aces High. I was blown away by first riff. At that time i liked Metallica, G'n'R, some local hard rock / metal bands, but i was actually into old school hip hop like Beastie Boys, Public Enemy and such. Being an electric guitar player, even in that particular phase i had a soft spot for heavy guitar. Somewhere In Time is my favourite album.

My live Maiden experience is a twisted one, being avid fanatic for them for the last 12 years, i've seen them live only once. I wanted to catch Edhuntour in Italy, but my parents disallowed me to go. I wanted to catch BNW tour in Slovenia, but i failed some classes. I wanted to catch GMEDIT here, in Croatia, but on that date i had exam on college that was crucial for the whole semester. I wanted to catch AMOLAD in Belgrade, but i had to defend my final thesis somewhere around that show date, so i wasn't sure i could go. Finally, in summer 2008, they came literally across the road, to stadium about 70 meters from my building, i was on vacation, no more excuses  :D

I have an engineering degree in computer sciences, my job is UNIX systems engineering, and i have a f'king lot of other interests that i'm too lazy to list.

<--- Old Timer (finally! Or well, since 236 posts, but I am not a poster of great quantity. I've been here since 2006).  :P

Let's see. Long long time ago, in a gala... A long time ago (read: late 2003 when I was 13), my brother knocked on the door to my room - I was busy listening to Linkin Park, POD and Papa Roach (I am kinda ashamed of this noways) and he asked me to turn it down because he had something to show me. He wanted to show me a song by that band, Iron Maiden. I knew he had some greatest hits collection and he had shown me Run to the Hills at some point. I recognized the band's name because well, I guess I had read something about it or heard something about it previously but I hadn't been very enthusiastic about it - I wasn't interested in hearing anything else than Linkin Park or whatnot, so I didn't give it a chance.

However. He had bought their latest album and wanted me to listen to PASCHEN-FUCKING-DALE. I said "sure" but I was in reality reluctant, I didn't care. I thought it was pretty cool and started to listen to them every now and then until I realized "Hell, I love this band" and started buying albums.

I'm turning 20 any day now and I have been listen to Maiden 6.5 years now and still going strong. I also play the guitar since 2005 or so. Primary influences: Dave Murray and Joe Satriani. That first name mgiht sound familiar to say the least: I am also his High Priest and I shall eventually convert every single heathen and unbeliever in this forum. Mark my words, the day that SMX repents and kneels before Murray is the day I have won.

Nope. Every time I've been in front of Dave Murray, I've been standing. Including 2 nights ago, when I was standing 50 feet in front of him. So there. :P

Hello, I am Derek Smalls, but have been known to be the other members of Spinal Tap. As I am just over 500 posts and just over 2 years, so I barely qualify. I've been into Maiden since '82 and seen them on almost every tour since. I live in Maryland, love the New York Rangers hockey team, and have three kids. After a 4 year stint in retail management I have returned back to my roots and have a rewarding job as a counselor working with adults who are developmentaly disabled. I am most often in the hockey discussion or USA political thread.

PS my 14 year old son is having his cherry broke and going to the July 20th show in DC with me  :shred:

Thanks Wasted. He was supposed to go with me to see "Somwhere Back", but he got suspended from school.

I love working for non profit companies where the bottom line is'nt the most important thing.

Lol, this thread -it seems like centuries!  :)
Hello, I'm no5, been here since early 2006 -registered some months later. I like all kinds of music and following Maiden's releases since 1985.
I've seen them live a few times, at least once in each decade. The first part of AMOLAD tour, is what I pick.
Sound wise I pick Blaze lives, but I don't like Blaze era. Regarding first listens, BNW is my ultimate, so far.
I'm Naval Architect and currently live in Dubai.

Don't know if I am considered an "old timer" as I haven't posted here in quite some time, but I was a member of the old IMBB from 1999-2006/7 and then posted here. Although I have a new account now, so maybe I'm a "newbie"? Either way, some of you may remember me from the old IMBB days...and if not, er hi...I'm new here :)

OK...so i have since read the rules, and I don't qualify..sorry. I will sit patiently and await deletion :D
