Since we ask the newbies to introduce themselves in this thread, it is only fair that the "Old Timers" among us introduce themselves too. There are no tight rules as to who is considered an Old Timer, this lies basically in their own evaluation. However, it should be said that anyone who has been posting for a significant amount of time, such as two years or so, could be considered such. For that matter...

Hello, I am Perun. I registered here back in early 2004, while I was still doing my final exams at school. I have been a Maiden fan for close to nine years now. It all started for me when my religion teacher at school played The Number Of The Beast to us in order to demonstrate Satanist music. Now, I am a student of a subject so obscure that it is very unlikely that you ever heard of it. I study and live in the greatest town on earth, Berlin.

I have been a moderator on this board for quite some time now. I am usually considered the "nice guy" in the team, although I can get quite uncomfortable when somebody is behaving out of order. Since that thankfully is a rather rare occurrence here, there is little to worry about.

Moderator note:
Perun was wrong about "no tight rules". You need 2 years and 500 posts. Otherwise, your post will be deleted.

Excellent idea!

I'm Raven, although I registered under the username Silky back in the Christmas of 2005.  Back then, I favoured the official BB over this one, due to the, err...intimidation nature of some of the mod team (okay, it was Maverick, mostly).

I got into Maiden shortly after I got into metal in the spring of 2005, with the albums Edward the Great and Rock in Rio.  By Christmas 2006, I had all of them in my physical possession (and had them all in mp3 format long before then!).  Although they are my favourite band of all time, Agalloch and Primordial take joint 2nd place, while other favourites can be found on my Last.fm page.

I'm currently in my last year of school in Belfast, and will be starting a Veterinary Medicine course at Cambridge in October.

I have no power, and little sense, so just ignore me and move along. :P

I would not consider myself an old timer in the sense that LC or Onhell can.

I've been registered here since August 2005 when I posted several comments about the Give Me Ed... Tour.  Being a noob at the time and having literally no former forum etiquette, I posted these comments under the Commentary songs.  They were deleted promptly for reasons that are obvious now.  Having only a few posts left undeleted, and my progess seemingly ignored or squashed, I decided to spend most of the time reading the Commentary instead of posting.  It wasn't until AMOLAD was released a year later that I started posting -- a lot.

I've only been a Maiden fan since 2003, when I heard The Wickerman on the radio.  This was strange as I hardly listen to the radio, yet for some reason I was bored of my regular music that fateful day.  I wish I got into them earlier, but Run to the Hills just did not seem like a good enough reason.

My brother has been sampling older music for a while and asked me what he should download next.  I suggested Iron Maiden.  The rest is history.  I have purchased all of their studio stuff since plus some other material.

Aerosmith and Megadeth are my other two favourite bands whose number one status changes depending on my mood.

I reside in Hamilton, Canada -- a city dear to me.

Hello, I'm SinisterMinisterX. Because my nickname is so long, it often gets abbreviated to SMX.

I first heard Maiden in 1982 ("Run To The Hills"). I liked them, but didn't become a huge fan until 1985 and Live After Death. I joined this forum in 2003, a few weeks before I saw Maiden on the Give Me Ed... tour (I was looking for setlist spoilers, back before we had spoiler tags available). I'm also a moderator here.

I live in Denver, Colorado, USA. I play bass in a couple of bands and love progressive rock and heavy metal. I'm a recovered alcoholic / drug addict - clean and sober for over 14 years now. I'm an atheist, yet I am also High Priest of the Church of Adrian Smith.

I'm Onhell, I registered... in 2003 I think and I'm the resident asshole and am the official thread killer.

I first listened to maiden in '99, but didn't really get into them until 200 where I bought most of the "Golden Era" stuff, fan of theirs and Metal in general ever since. I work and not much else since I graduated, well read and write a lot.

And I go under the name of Albie.

I have been registered here since Feb/March 2006 (almost 2 years) and seemed to have spent a lot of time on here, judging by the stats. I've been busy elsewhere of late and as such my posting has been a little sparse - but I'm still around. :D

A long (long) time fan of the band having seen them way back in December 1980 (at the Rainbow Theatre). I quite liked them before the gig, but this concert made me a fan and pushed dear old Thin Lizzy down in the proverbial pecking order.

I live in sunny old England (well, it is today) and am married - with two dogs.

I am LooseCannon.

I first joined back in early 2003 and became an active poster a few months later. I've had a couple interruptions in my Maidenfans term but overall, been here pretty consistently.  I'm also a moderator.

I have a degree in history and work in computer support.  I am usually camping the forum from work too, so don't think you can get away with anything, you grubby-fingered lot you.  I've been into Maiden since around 2001 when my friend IronDuke introduced me to them with Alexander The Great.  Really, it was all downhill from there.

I guess I belong in here as well. I roamed these forums some years ago under the nick "Syk0_H", but that account somehow got lost in the transition to the new forum, and I never got around to creating a new one. I guess it's about time I give it another go  :)

I've been into maiden since the early 00's when I stumbled upon a few mp3s from rock in rio (I think) on a mate's computer. I was instantly sold, and have been a big fan ever since.

Oh, and I'm a cook. I love making mayo. (wonder if anyone even remembers that one :P )

Holy shit! Welcome back man! I can't believe I didn't pick up on the "die-hard atheist dane" thing! :p

I registered here way back in 2003 and have been reasonably active ever since. I've been part of the Maidenfans news team for more than four years and a moderator for almost as long. I got into Maiden with Brave New World about seven years ago, and despite living in Sweden I've only seen them live once. Apart from Maiden and a few other metal bands, I'm a great fan of progressive rock, some electronica and Frank Zappa.

I'm interested in film and watch quite a lot of them. I don't really like a particular genre more than any other, I'm pretty open towards anything, though there's nothing like a good comedy. My all-time favourite films are Dr. Strangelove and Life of Brian.

I'm also terrible at introducing myself in an interesting manner.

$yk0_H! Holy crap, dude, welcome back - mayo and all!

Notice to all forum members:
This thread is for old-timers only. And that means you need to have been here 2 years and have more than 500 posts.

If you don't meet the qualifications and your post gets deleted, that's why.

Nice topic, but beware, I often tend to tell too much about myself when it comes to Maiden. ;)

I became hooked during the time of No Prayer For The Dark, or was it Fear of the Dying? Sorry, dumb joke...

Basically, I am saying that I became a huge fan in 1991, the period in between these albums. You could say I'm a rare species on this forum. Most people here became a fan since the "reunion era", since the "golden years", or since the "Blaze years".

I am from the often neglected, and imo also often underestimated early nineties period, when Grunge started to take over.

It all started after having heard a recorded cassette of the debut album. I have never been so addicted to new music after hearing this stuff in my walkman. I was completely in another world. The two tracks which totally triggered me were "Prowler" and "Transylvania". The only hard rock I knew and appreciated before that was some Queen ("I Want It All"), Guns'n'Roses ("Appetite For Destruction"), Kiss ("Alive II") and even Bon Jovi ("You Give Love A Bad Name" in particular). Also, from the day when it came out until this very moment I'm a huge fan of "Beat It" by Michael Jackson, which I consider to be a hard rock song.

Since 1992 I tried to see all the Maiden gigs in the Netherlands, I only missed 1993 and 1996.

In 1998 I became involved with the internet and I was a member of the alt.rock-n-roll.ironmaiden newsgroup. There I roamed with characters like Baeleron (the starter of the current Iron Maiden Commentary) and many more. These were wild days, since the group was divided in an anti- and a pro-Blaze camp. There was hardly any moderation. Around that time I started with providing the solo information to the Commentary.

I remember the beginnings of this very forum, but later I drifted away... I am currently registered since the autumn of 2003 (might have been the second registration), though I hardly posted back then. The last years I became much more active.

Here I like to talk about Maiden's music, albums, songs, concerts, setlists, bootlegs, trivia, songwriting credits, and of course solos.

Next to Maiden and let's say metal in general I am very much of a film freak. I like the old classic cinema, especially film noir, thrillers, old horrors, war films & westerns. You can often find me on the general forum as well, being busy with all kinds of news from the media, and football.

Well, I guess you have enough of me now  ;)

Ah, before I forget: current favourite Maiden clip on internet, this one from Download 2007: click

What exactly is the problem? that this is restricted to "old timer" intros? How is that any different than deleting posts without spoiler tags in concert threads? after all that is being "restricting?"

Forostar, the idea here was to give people an idea who those people who have been around forever have been.  I'm really sorry if it offends you, but the thread has a purpose.  We decided that there needs to be a cutoff.  Why?  Because quite frankly, someone who has been here for six months and has 1000 posts may not be here in 6 months.  Similarly, someone who has less than a few hundred posts likely wouldn't be noticed enough to wonder..."Who is this old bloke?"

Honestly, mate, the moderation here isn't that bad.  I apologize if we sometimes seem strict, but there's a reason for that: we have standards and rules.  The rules for the thread should have been posted originally, and let me apologize for that again, but SMX did post them as soon as we realized that we had standards we wanted for the thread.  Really, someone could start going off like Maverick, and then you'd have what you seem to despise.

I'm Hunlord, Attila or Don (if you're Nushnool).

I registered here in August 2005, but it took a while for me to start posting, as it seemed the forum was a bit intimidating. I started posting actively around Christmas 2005, and I've only recently hit 500 posts. I don't post that much, as I only post in topics that interest me or I feel I have something worth saying.

I got into Maiden when I saw Run To The Hills on Top Of The Pops one night, when just flicking around. A while later I got The Number Of The Beast, and I've been a fan for about five years at this stage, I think. Aside from Maiden, I'm also a huge fan of Primordial, Manowar, Sabbat and various other bands.

I'm taking a year out before going to university and I'm working in PayPal. My job is to basically take shite from idiots who gave out their account information to someone on the internet, had money stolen from them, and blame me for it, but it funds my Master Replicas collection, so its well worth it.

I get the point. But some people are almost 2 years here (let's say one and a half or something). Why this strict cutting? The sudden deleting surprised me, and I assure you that some people might not feel very wanted/welcome like this. I reacted and acted out of solidarity.
