Old Logo Coming Back?

Forostar

Ancient Mariner
Today I bought British metal magazine Terrorizer and on page 57 I found an Iron Maiden adverstisement for the British tourdates (11th til 22nd December).

The logo in this magazine has the long R, M and N's which were used on all Iron Maiden releases until 1996 (Best of the Beast ; logo changed on Virtual XI for the first time).

Will the old logo return after 10 years of absence?

The one on page 57 is a bit 3-D-ish, by the way, so it's slightly different.

Maybe logos in advertisements have nothing to do with logos on album artworks, still I am curious what will happen! [img src=\"style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/smile.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":)\" border=\"0\" alt=\"smile.gif\" /]

I'm thinking they just use the "newer logo" for album covers now, but the old fashioned logo is still in use in eveything else...

I'm going to be pretty frank here, sorry Foro...but I don't care what logo I see on the album cover. As long as it says Iron Maiden...

Well bugger me, I never even noticed the logo had changed! And even after all these years.

Just goes to show how much attention I paid to that part of the overall package. [img src=\"style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/tongue.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":P\" border=\"0\" alt=\"tongue.gif\" /]

Why did they change the logo after all? [img src=\"style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/wink.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\";)\" border=\"0\" alt=\"wink.gif\" /]

No, its not right. They didn't use the "old logo" for Death On The Road (cd or dvd), they didn't use it for Rock In Rio (cd or dvd) they didn't use it for the 2006 calendar, they do on some of the older t-shirts and clothes but that is just because they come from an era when the "old logo" was the only logo. If you can, prove me wrong, but good luck.

I really couldn't care less which logo they use. They're both Metal Lord font and say Iron Maiden-what more do you want? That said, the new style logo is easier to carve into school-desks, due to the lack of pointy bits... No prob LC. It's the music that matters indeed. Still I think that the older logo has more style. Never understood why it had to be changed.

I got a feeling only the official iron maiden products have the new font, the rest havnt updated yet, for example I have an unoficial DoTR poster with the old logo, but the cd and dvd have the new one.
And in regards to the early days, they used the old font because it is about the period when it was used. When the 'history of iron maiden' gets to 1996, im guessing it will change.
