Holy shit.

High quality version on my studio-quality headphones is sex.

Seriously, people who dismissed on the leak need some good headphones, a real copy and 72 minutes to kill. You'll be back a second time soon after.
See reply # 1035.......

Hah, seems we're on the same wavelength! I've got these lush sounding big bulky Sennheisers that I love to death.

Easy now, you never know when there might be fans around these parts.. Just because you may not like them doesn't mean they're shit.

Very mature.  :S

I can't stand Owl City but I don't go around laughing at any of their fans. Oh well.

I've never even heard of Arcane Fire until now, and I have no idea if I'd like their music or not.

They're a band that kind of apes on the whole 80s post punk thing with their brand of "current indie rock." Kinda Robert Smith vocals.

I was 17 when their debut came out, and it wasn't terrible for what it was, in fact I remember liking it a lot (it was a stark contrast to what I listen to typically), but whatever was in that first album got married with some weird pseudo Elvis Costello thing, and it really has done nothing for me since the first album, though I keep trying to give each new release a fair shake.

Re: Official thread for Final Frontier discussion (Spoilers inside)

Just to be clear, I wasn't dumping on Arcade Fire. I've never heard them.
It was just supposed to be a tongue-in-cheek poke at Travis, who obviously didn't like the idea of Maiden being behind them.
...not that I think Maiden should behind anyone.  :innocent:

Re: Official thread for Final Frontier discussion (Spoilers inside)

I personally think they suck, but that's just my opinion.
So Jeff, did you get your copy?

Re: Official thread for Final Frontier discussion (Spoilers inside)

Not yet! Yesterday, the postman didn't came with the package to the store. Today, it's all certain he'll deliver it and by the afternoon, The Final Frontier will be blasting through my stereo!!! :edmetal:

Oh, so to make matters worse of how you were supposed to get it on Monday, you didn't even get it on the official day. You must be ready to commit murder.

More or less, but I can hold the animal inside me. I prefer instead to pick a chick and unleash my loving fury in and on her. B)

Re: Official thread for Final Frontier discussion (Spoilers inside)

According to the credits, 'Arry is first composer on only one single song - WTWWB. Does this indicate that he has taken the role of a control instance instead of actually composing much himself? That is, the others come to him with more or less finished songs and he suggests some changes - and that's all he does?

Re: Official thread for Final Frontier discussion (Spoilers inside)

I think TFF is a Harris song, but Satellite 15 is H's hence why he gets the first credit. I preferred the AMOLAD credits of Music and Lyrics. It's fair to say Harris probably wrote lyrics on all the songs Bruce didn't write them for. I have a feeling H might help with the lyrics for his songs (Like for Pashcendale he suggested a theme but let Harris do the lyrics) but Jan and Dave don't.

I'm not really that knowledgeable about this though, so I'm probably wrong :P

Jan wrote lyrics for The Pilgrim.

Really? Cool! The interviews up on the Maiden Chat section indicate he didn't for this album at any rate.

Re: Official thread for Final Frontier discussion (Spoilers inside)

Finally got this on Tuesday and have been listening to it pretty much non stop ever since.

I gotta admit, I really didn't care for much of it after the first listen.  FIRST listen that is.

I'm now a good 10 listens in and it's really opened up for me and I'm really enjoying it.  I think everyone has different opinions on what they feel a new Maiden album should sound and be like, and this one didn't hit the mark right away for me.  It's the first one since The X Factor for me that left me somewhat bemused right away.

But man, this album is damn good.  Lots of light and shade.  Lots of different and new sounds for Maiden.

Man of the match is Adrian for me, he's absolutely everywhere on here.

Bruce sounds good to me.  I think the only song that suffers from straining to the point of detriment is Mother of Mercy.  But part of that is also how awkward that chorus melody is.

I wish the guitars had a bit more bite to them, but I think the production is a bit fuller than AMOLAD.  I am surprised how less heavy this album is though.

And one final thought as I'm rambling somewhat here- while I can see why they put all the long songs and short songs together, I think the album would flow better had they mixed them up a bit.  Maybe it's just me.

It's too early for me to properly rank this with the rest of the post 2000 material but I already like it more than I ever liked Brave New World.  Good stuff.
