Haven't been here for quite some time because I don't have much time right now, with work and everything. I'll probably be back in september when school starts again (and the album is released :b )

As for the album, I can't help but find some title are a bit weird but I'll have to wait and hear before passing any judgment. The only thing bothering is the title of the 8th song : For The Greater Good of God Wtf!?!?

Until next time, have a good life everyone  -_-

I honestly don't see why people are getting all hot and bothered over this and similar song titles. IT IS JUST A SONG, I doubt it will change the world...

Remember the rumor that one of the songs was based on an author, or perhaps a book?
I checked the Kevin Shirley diaries and he said that song 10 was about an author. Lord of Light is song 9, although it's possible he switched the two around.

I bet the album is a concept one, like Nicko had said a year before. Someone from the IMOC has made a post about this which is great food for thought:

it was mentioned that this album was to be a concept album of sorts, and from looking at the the song titles and the image of eddie with the crossed guns i think i have an idea for the concept: The Third World War.

'Different Worlds' could be the collision of ideologies i.e. east and west, democracy and tyranny etc

'These Colours Don't Run' is perhaps a reference the start of war: upholding face, not cowering in the face of terror, seeking revenge?

----linked? 'the end' ----

'Brighter than a Thousand Suns'. a nuclear explosion? a nuclear holocaust? (side note: imagine if this was like Bruce's 'Strange death in paradise'? :D :D :D )

'The Pilgrim'. man is returned to a more primitive time? a pilgrim is someone who remembers or worships....those who died maybe? COULD BE A MAIN CHARACTER?

'The Longest Day'. perhaps based on the ww2 film of the same name. suggests a battle, possibly the last one?

---linked? 'rebuilding'----

'Out of the Shadows' of the old civilisations? of a nuclear winter?

'The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg'. perhaps he is a central character in the concept? a soldier maybe who finds his morals and position in life changed? maybe he becomes a leader, 'Postman' style?

---linked? 'new world order'---

'For the greater good of god' suggests something happens, or has to be done, in order to survive? maybe the new society is becoming divided?

'Lord of Light' could be the/a central character (if there is one) becoming a new ruler?

----------------------------

'The Legacy'. what are we leaving for the future? a message about the world we're leaving for our children now or for our children's children?

someone mentioned that the new eddie logo was called 'something's coming'. combined with the weapons and armour to me suggests war. 'something wicked this way comes'.

i don't. it's just an idea i thought of.

thoughts?

Wow.  That was some good hypothesis.  Also,  guys,  what's wrong with For The Greater Good Of God?  I like the title.  The Reincarnation bla bla bla sounds a little weird though...

I've heard a rumour that Paul Di'Anno is a code name for Prince Charles...   :innocent:

yes. and everybody knows who prince charles is. loving husband, strict father and infirm gradfa.

respect for conor. if benjamin is really dennis then somethings weird around here. same with "these coulours dont..." as well-known bruces diplomatic statement after eggfest 2005. i must admit thats the absoluitely new way of expression for IM reacting and even admitting the reality in some kind of "investigative journalists" style

and someone (drunk caveman?) said that first song is the next single. but "longest day"! is track no. 5. never mind. as for this song - i dont think that 7+ min. song is some kind of masterpiece if you can edit it to 3 min. (see the cover of the "single")
but also im very pleased with tour starting (until now) in japan. there are rumours that there are dates in US before japan dates. nothing new that IM tour is starting in america (like in 88, 92). i hope they could do some "new" territories as well as downunder and other parts of world they seem to ignore for a while (turkey, russia etc.)

I don't like some of those song titles, but of course, I'll wait to hear the songs before I judge them. Granted, there's been some excellent songs with awful titles in the past...

Though I must say I like the album title. I don't know why. But I like it.

I don't like those guns under Eddie's face though... I hope their significance will be explained later on...

Well, Per, if you look closely you'll see that the guns are crossed like bones under a white skull on a black background...know what this means?  Maiden are doing a Running Wild tribute! :yey: :p

I did notice that. I still don't like it.

I have an excellent new theory for the album... it came to me in a flash of inspiration when I was trying to get to sleep at 3AM last night.

The title of the album "A Matter of Life and Death" is part of a famous quote from Bill Shankley... the great, late Liverpool coach.  The full quote is:

Some people think football is a matter of life and death, but that’s ridiculous:- its far more important than that

We all know that 2006 is a World Cup year, as was 1998 when "Virtual XI" was released.  The two things link together...

:( I think I'd better get back to bed :P

And oh, I just thought of another great quote from Einstein that could link to the possible concept of WWIII:
I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.
Those would be cool lyrics.

OK, Conor, time to start revising for physics exam tomorrow

You know, I always thought that was either Shanks or Bob Paisley. I could never remember who was creditied for it.

Taken from Wikipedia:

During this time, he participated in the recording of the group's first album, Iron Maiden, the Women in Uniform EP, some subsequent singles and the Live!! + 1 live album.
